Monoposto On The Silvrstone Grand Prix Circuit
Monoposto has 2 grids at the 24 April BRDC meeting on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. The circuit provides for grids of 42 cars. It would be great to have big fields of Mono 2000 & 1800 and 1600 & 1200 cars out.
If you have an eligible car, come and join in. F Renault, F Ford Zetec, F Ford 1600 and F Jedi car owners will all be very welcome. Entry fee is £150 for practice and a 19 minute plus one lap race. |

Is this the case Andy? The version of the timetable I had seen indicated that the Monos had only one race, but JEB did say he was re-writing it!

Andy,
As far as I am aware there are two races for Mono at Silverstone, split between th ckasses as is ussual. Each of the races will have a 15min qualifying and a 15min race, thats about 7 laps of the GP circuit. I made a suggestion to the club that we might have been better off having a combined grid for a 30min race (like Spa) but I was told that this would mean some people would not be able to race due to over subscription. It seems that a number of people that dont ussually support the club will be out at Silverstone. Still 7 laps is better than 0 and its good to see the club organisers getting us onto F1 circuits, much of the credit I understand goes to Doug McLay. Phil |

I did not mean to suggest that Mono had 2 races for £150 total!! I wish. But the last e-mail I received from the Club stated that we had 2 grids. I assume that one will be for Mono 2000 and Mono 1800 classes and one will be for Mono 1600 and Mono 1200, although I, for one, would rather that Mono 1800 joined the Mono 1600/1200 race.
I have just re-read the supplementary regs and timetable, though and have noted the 15 min race length. Damn, I got the 19 mins + 1 lap idea from somewhere but I can't think where!! Sorry, must have had a "senior moment". Still, its great to be on the GP circuit and a £150 per race entry fee is still pretty good compared to many (Donington for example!). |

didn't think you'd get two races for that entry fee, but still pretty damned cheap for the GP circuit. What are you normal entry fees for a 10 or 12 lapper ?

Andy97 - just to confirm, is the above based on a timetable issued after March 29, which shows one 20-minute Monoposto race (www.brdc.co.uk)?

I am looking at "Version 3" dated 30 March. Haggispeed Entry fees vary between £165 and £185 normally but Donington is £200 this year. Double header meetings are £275 to £285 and races vary between 15 and 20 mins long. The PMC Silverstone National circuit meeting on 30 April is £175 for 19 mins + 1 lap (arhh, now I understand the source of my confusion!) Rgds Andy |

Version three dated March 30th. Not on the BRDC site but emailed out by JEB with the entry forms. Nick. |

I cant wait. Might have to get John practicing the circuit on a computer game first, like F1 drivers do.

i'm winning regularly on "grand prix 4" in a minardi with a steering wheel strapped to the pc, on semi pro difficulty too!! of course i wear my overalls, helmet and have the mrs rocking my chair (ooh err) for added realism. surely nobody can beat such preparation. i really should get round to preparing the car though as it did break on the 2nd lap last time out! |

Anyone know what the entry is looking like for Mono 2000? I've only received details of the Mono 2 race. Here, the Mono 1800s are running with the 1600s and the 1200s for a change - all the usual suspects with 13 Mono 1200s, 11 Mono 1600s and 6 Mono 1800s. Lets hope that there are some late entries too.

I think 32 are on the list for the Mono 2000 grid, although Geoff Fern is on the list with the 2000 in a FF1800. I suspect he is driving a FF1600 in the other mono race as well? Wonder if he is in with the FF1600 also! He managed 4 races in one day at Snett last year!

Qualifying was Dawe, Uttley, Mark Harrison, Philips.
Uttley took the start from the pit lane and completed two laps. Dawe had poor start which held up Mark H with Francis getting in to second spot. Eventual result was Dawe, Mark H .655 sec gap, Lee Bennet 24 sec gap. Fastest lap Mark H 1.56.743. All in all good day for Dallaras and Kidderminster! |

What happened? I was minding my own business at the back of the field in a car that I had never driven before. I moved over to allow the leaders through to lap me, then as they passed I thought it must be raining as I had some fluid all over my visor. Within a couple of seconds I was in the wall. On the run down to bridge.....Not a place one would expect to go in the wall. It bl**dy well hurt my legs as well. My nice new car is severely damaged as is my confidence as it is the second race in sucession that I have returned with a car with two wheels instead of four. I think that the fluid was oil as they then hung out the red/yellow flag. I am more than a bit dispondent.
