Hi everyone,
This is Old Fart Racing in the USA. The talk of the year on both sides of the Pond is the World superKart Challenge race this May 18,19 and 20. It is being held as a support event for the NASCAR Winston West series race at Laguna Seca Raceway just south of San Francisco, California. There will be coverage by ESPN. All the latest news about this event can be found at Rob Forker's site. there is a link to it from my website in the links page, look for the Good Times Race Team amd click on the logo. This is a really great chance for the world of 250 SuperKarts to open the eyes of the residents of California, and the ESPN audience. If anyone reading this has not already heard about it, e-mail me and I will gladly send you all the information needed to attend. Entries are going to be limited so you need to get around to it very quickly. There are already entrants from England, France, Austria, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. This is shaping up to be a real shoot-out of really top class machinery!!!! John Skuja Raven@ravens-roost.com http://www.ravens-roost.com/ofr/ofr.html |

Wow ..this sounds like an event not to miss..i have just read an article about it and wish that i could be there to see this amazing event..superkarts at laguna seca.
I have a question though ..will they be using the full champcar circuit or a shortened version? this event has been put together by former 500cc world champions Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson who both compete in 250cc superkarts. In the article i have read it mainly talks about the list of Australians that are going...8 are heading over and they believe they have the ability and the equipment to bring the trophy home with them..and they are a pretty talented bunch of guys as well. 1.Chris Staff 2.Steve tapper 3.John Carter 4.Simon Mathewson 5.Alan rose 6.Wayne crossland 7.Steve Crossland 8.Anton Stevens the last 3 drivers are actually from New Zealand making it a pretty good driver line up. If your in the states make sure you can get to this one as it is set to be one of the best superkart events of the year. |

Race at Laguna
The race at Laguna will be held on the full Circuit. This format was tried a number of years ago as a support event for a Trans Am event, the problem was the 250 guys were several seconds a lap faster than the Trans Am sedans that it never happened again. Can you imagine some of the questions that multi mega buck trans am teams got in the pits? "hey buddy, how come those funny little go-karts are faster than you guys?" It is hard to justify to your sponsors spending a million dollars of their money to get passed up by a $15,000.00 machine.
The race at Laguna will be the same thing, we will go faster than the Winston West stock cars around Laguna Seca, it would be impossible not to, the reaction of the Stock car guys will be interesting to sy the least. I know for a fact that Poul Peterson of PVP Karts will be there, he holds two FIA acceleration records in his PVP/Rotax machine, and is very quick!!! Should make for an interesting weekend.
