Well Done To Peter Dempsey
I would just like to say a big well done to Peter Dempsey who has won the 2005 Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year award for 2005.
Press Release - Peter Dempsey Wins Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year Award! At a media reception held this morning, in Dublin, at the headquarters of Irish motor sport, Motorsport Ireland announced the winner of the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year award for 2005. The top three finalists for the award were Peter Dempsey from Meath, Charlie Donnelly from Kildare and Dubliner Paddy Hogan. These three talented young drivers were short-listed from an initial panel of six Drivers of the Month and undertook a skills test at Mondello Park Racing Circuit on 7th November. Here they each drove a Dunlop Touring Car under the watchful gaze of ex-Lotus Formula One Driver, Martin Donnelly. Following this process, Motorsport Ireland is now delighted to announce that the winner of the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year Award for 2005 is Peter Dempsey. Peter’s outstanding performance has not only earned him this prestigious title, but he will also receive the generous prize fund of €32,000 to aid him in his future motor sport career. In second and third positions and each receiving €8,000 and €4,000 respectively are Charlie Donnelly and Paddy Hogan. The Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year Award was created by Motorsport Ireland, with the backing of the Irish Sports Council and Irish Dunlop, in order to assist talented young drivers to further their Motorsport careers. The formal presentation of awards will take place at Motorsport Ireland’s Champions’ Lunch, which is due to be held in Dublin on 24th January 2006. |

Peter, we've never met but I remember you overtaking me in the torrential rain at this years WHT.
As you past me as though I was stood still, your car sideways before the corner, I thought then 'What a tallented f***ing nutter!' Well done and all the best for the future. |

Well done Peter [and you as well Cliff]
I suppose you'll be sinking a jar or some at Anglesey this weekend then. Mind you, even without the award, you'd probably still be sinking a jar or some |

I'm delighted to make this my very first post!
Heartiest congratulations to Pete, Cliff and all the family not least Keith who narrowly missed out on this award a few years ago. This really is a big one in this neck of the woods. Second was UK Formula Ford Champion Charlie Donnelly and third was UK Formula Renault race winner Paddy Hogan. Well done again and best of luck in 2006. |

TOP MAN PETE.
The LUCKY drivers again!!!!!! And all in your first full season of FF1600.....How embarrassing for the rest of us mere mortals! You deserve everything you get Pete and I truely hope you get to the top. It's rare to find someone with your obvious talent whilst keeping your feet solidly on the ground and your head in the same proportion as the rest of your body. Theres plenty of F1 drivers over the years that haven't managed that. You would be a great embassador for any team wishing to snap up young raw talent. Perhaps RBR might be knocking on your door soon???? See you on Saturday.....Looks like I'm gonna need a bed for the night!!!!!!I think there will be plenty of drink involved....AGAIN! Appologies for the state of the photo's in advance IAN....ha ha ha |

A very much deserved award to the driver who, IMHO, was the true winner of the Walter Hayes Trophy this year.

Joey won it fair and square - Peters done an awful lot to deserve this award, but why are you crediting him with races he didn't win, he drove superbly at the WHT, but joey won it by performing better on the day. why even mention this ? Quote:
