Brack to replace Rice
The Indycar.com website is confirming that Kenny Brack will take over the Panoz-Honda of defending champion Buddy Rice for the 89th Indy 500.
http://www.indycar.com/news/story.php?story_id=4595 No quotes from any of the interested parties yet. Perhaps Brack could go out on a real high...double champion??? |

In retrospect the speculation Team Owner posted about on May 12th turned out to be pretty spot on:

Well done Team Owner. It'll be interesting to see how Kenny goes, but consdiering taht he can't start near the front of the grid, and hasn't been anywhere near one of these cars for over a year, it's a massive challenge for him.

Despite the fact I'd have felt better if he'd retired, I wish him well.
Have a good, fast, safe race, Kenny. |

Kenny will have a good engine and team behind him. He will be a sentimental favorite for Many.
Go get em Kenny! |

While I think Kenny is just a great guy and good driver, I think he should just stay retired. He had a really big moment and it has taken him a long time to recover. I hope he can get this one in the books without any further "moments."
I am not trying to be a downer here - I am just concerned for the man's long-term health and happiness. There have been too many drivers who have made a "comeback" that went wrong - Neil Bonnett comes to mind - and I just am too old to have to deal with it again. |

Every race fan rightfully cheered when Alex Zanardi made his triumphant return to racing, so I think it's only right to cheer for Kenny to, who's extremely violent accident has to rate right up there with the worst of them IMO.
I know many will say that he shouldn't return to open wheel stuff, but only he knows if he's ready, if he feels that he is, then thats good enough for me. He obviously loves IndyCar racing, and the Indy 500, and that kind of dedication rates highly in my book. Go get em Kenny, and have some fun! |

It took Kenny all of 15 laps to get up to speed yesterday and then he ran 225+ for several laps. He'll put the car in the show Saturday and then run race setups late and on Sunday according to some of the team members I spoke too today. It would be nice to see Kenny do well !

I would agree Team Owner - I am just the cautious sort when someone is "coming back" in a sport where you need to run 225's to do well!
Kenny's talent has never been in question and he is still a definite threat to win. |
