Mexico City-Weekend Thread
http://www.nascar.com/races/bg/2008/...ntry_list.html
so.... sorry, i know it's a bit early, but this is one of my favorite races of the year: some "ringers", BORIS , Simo etc... Mexican Road Course "Aces" JPM got his first NASCAR win last year GA drivers are entered, Mad Max and Scott P. Morgan Shepherd is still pluggin' away! 47 cars entered...several are going home unhappy.... hope Marcus A. can get his first Sportsman (NW) series victory this weekend (where's the Ausi flag on the Smiles List?!). i love this race! |

It's not that there are no excuses for him on a road course (there are plenty of very good road racers in NASCAR) it's that there is no excuse for a poor show in this particular event. It's not a massively strong entry list purely because a lot of Cup drivers skip it and Nationwide doesn't quite have the depth.
Ambrose should run up front mainly and if he keeps his head he should get a decent result. |

I hope Marcos gets the result denied him at Montreal last year. Without the top road course Cup drivers like JPM and Harvick in the field he has a real shot at it. Boris and Pruett perhaps are his main rivals.

yeah, robby ain't entered so there's a good chance for Marcus.
and ya'll are right, they're isn't a stroing showing from Cup drivers but there are some good road racers in NASCAR NW series along with good teams. there also very good road racers entered, but they also seem to come up a bit short unless they have a full time NASCAR team behind them. not sure who has that in MC but i always for guys like Boris, Adrian, Simo and the road racers, even tho i knew what Daytona was before Le Mans. |

As expected Pruett, Ambrose and Boris up there...Braun the big surprise although he was on pole in the GrandAm race there last year I believe; great effort nevertheless.

Haha, I love watching stockcars on road courses, they're so out of place.

Stockcar races on road courses are awesome. But this race was a bit too much, 2 red flags and way too much cautions. Last half was oke but the beginning wa pretty anoying.

Gotta agree that it made for a poor disjointed show. End was decent but you could see the tire degradation coming before the last 10-12 laps or so. At least Pruett didn't whine about being hit this year, and amazed it didn't come off on the front stretch. Was hoping it was Marcos or Adrian's day but maybe at Montreal.

yeah, the stockcar races on road courses can get a bit ugly, but Boris tried to lively things up after the incident with Marcus.
couldn't really see what happened that well cause of the camera angles. i love Boris but not sure if he has much of an arguement. maybe Marcus could've lifted, but i don't think that is his style. just one of dem racin deals. allz i knowz is Boris said a naughty word on live TV (that wasn't ) and has vowed to pay Marcus back. interesting to see if anything has changed with the passing of some time. |

Well, seems I missed all the action!
Before my internet connection lost the plot, I managed to see Boris Said have a bizarre incident under braking for turn one and take to the grass and the odd nice overtaking move. I'll have to check out a replay of it later. |

i'm not sure if Boris had some issues with the car or not. seemed to be quick but all over the place, kinda like Boris. and i am not sure how he didn't wreck it on that particular incident into T1.
funny, during the broadcast, they stated that Patrick C, who had a good race going and was driving the car Boris drove last year, said that the setup Boris gave the team was a little too aggressive for him. really?? Boris aggressive?? i thought the race was good, but i did not like the size of the crowd. it's getting smaller and smaller every year. i don't see it lasting much longer. for shame. |
