Lito Cavalcanti: Kimi to Mercedes!
I don't know what to make of this. If it's true, it's really great news!
http://globoesporte.globo.com/Esport...+MERCEDES.html Google translation of the Portuguese article: Kimi Raikkonen hits with Mercedes Agreement comes after cessation of Jenson Button, who will race for McLaren The Mercedes hit with Finland's Kimi Raikkonen for the 2010 season of Formula 1. The revelation was made by journalist Lito Cavalcanti, the SporTV, on the afternoon of Wednesday. The agreement was closed the same day that Jenson Button confirmed that it would be the team's German manufacturer, which bought GP Brawn and changed the team name. The reigning drivers' championship was officially announced at McLaren in 2010 also on Wednesday. The hiring of Raikkonen, winner of the F-1 in 2007, bringing an end to rumors that the Finn will not drive the most important category of motor racing in 2010. On Wednesday, his manager told the British newspaper "The Independent" that Raikkonen, frustrated by not getting the McLaren draw holiday Formula 1. The Finn, so it will once again drive a car driven by engines of German factory. In his time with McLaren, from 2002 to 2006, the British team used engines from Mercedes. |

If its true then it could be a really good match. Ross would have probably had quite a bit to do with Kimi going to Ferrari and could well understand how to get the best out of him.
If Kimi can get his head right and just go for it all the time again then they could be in for an exciting season. |

If Kimi is revitalised there, it can only be good (apart from the increase in Kimi press conferences obviously!).

Good news. If Kimi's head is right. And no one better than Ross Brawn to be working with.

I have my doubts, but I'd love it to happen.
We'd then have Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari each with a star driver. |

In 12 hours Kimi's gone from taking a sabbatical to driving for MercedesGP? Either someones out of the loop, the tails wagging the dog, or Mercedes drove a Ice Cream truck loaded with cash onto Kimi's lawn.

I really can't see this. Why would Kimi accept what would roughly be the same salary from Mercedes that he turned down at McLaren? Because they're not going to offer him the £7m he wants - they can't, because it's in Rosberg's contract

Assuming the Rosberg contract stuff is true..... and assuming 7 million is all he wants....
In fact some reports had it as high as a total of 23 million (10 from Ferrari and 13 from McLaren)... Who knows.... but McLaren are happy, Vodafone are happy, Santander will be happy, Jenson is happy..... I am in doubt about Kimi/Mercedes and any deal (if one is done) may only be for a year with an option for another one if he pulls his weight..... Or maybe its loaded with performance bonuses..... |

Lazy Kimi deserves no place in F1, what did he achieve at Ferrari? 1 WDC cus of the in fighting at Mclaren with Ham and Alonso taking points of each other. His ass was well and trully kicked by Massa!
He should just get away from F1 and persue rallying or drinking his vodka and getting drunk! If anyone deserves a Merc drive then its Nick Heidfeld, you can be sure that in a good car he will do a top job! Kimi on the other hand performs when he wants to, otherwise he is to busy sleeping or drunking himself to death! |
