For the Wayne Wakefield fans out there...
After thrilling the crowd yet again in Green beast on Friday, (New
Fastest Lap and Race records)Wayne Wakefield found himself on the outer after being Disqualified for using fuel other than that specified in the supp regs. Supp Regs stated that all fuel used must be from the track supply. The Top 5 cars had fuel samples taken, and despite protestations from Wayne that it was just Shell Optimax, he was disqualified from the meeting plus14 days (only 14 so as not to interfere with the next Konica Round) for breaching the fuel Supp Regs. There were 4 or 5 other drivers who were upset over this ruling and subsequently withdrew their entries. Upon hearing of this the meeting stewards released a statement (see RaceNews on Tuesday), which in part read, that these other drivers could continue racing on the weekend if they presented their cars to the fuel bowser with "empty tanks"! |

So much for the old trick of a bit of two stroke oil in rotary engines!

With only 4 categories running, they have to do something!
And, from what I have seen, only one Formula Holden race was run - have not had any information on why the second wasn't run... |

If they decided to look past the fuel tank on the wagon they could have found a lot more wrong with it than just dodgy fuel. But we wont go into that because we dont want to upset crash anymore than he already is.

Pffttt.... the rules state you must use the original struts- it doesn't say anything about cutting them off and rewelding them on at a new angle
Obviously he broke the lap record by 2-3 seconds (some obscene amount by any standards) by using a special brew developed especially by NASA... And hrmmmm, interesting that they'd be bothered testing the 'lowly' categories... but anyways, it's all about coin going back into the pockets of the track promoter- 'if you want to run here- you buy our fuel...'. What happens if you run on AVGAS?? You run their used toilet water and melt your engine on the way to the dummy grid?? Also interesting that they paid everyone a fair bit in tow money to get there, and they turn around and give everyone the ****s... they'll learn their lesson next year.... |

Ummmm Crash - this *isn't* the first time (and won't be the last) they have tested the 'lowly' categories (anyway, that should have been the *only* categories - Darwin only runs two categories - HQ's and 'Club' cars)

I thought it was strange to have only one FHolden race.
Have to ask around about that. |

Ron Decker (posts in the Usenet aus.sport.motor group) posted a summary of the weekend there a short while ago - he mentioned/explained the reason for the delay inthe final HQ and Club car races but also mentioned, in passing, the second Formula Holden race (actually his words were - Why haven't you posted the second FHolden race results Nat****e''''his words, not mine
If/when I find out what happened, will let you know. |

To be honest, I don't think it is that big a deal to them- they've proven their point (it seemed as though a lot of the interstate cars were the ones which pulled out), so they are going to have to pull some very big strings to get everyone to come back next time...

I can't for the life of me understand why Formula Holden were even asked back this year - 11 cars last year with threats for not having the 15-20 promised - and this year 12. Unless it was a contractual arrangement.
There is also the other thing to consider - I understand that some categories no longer want to run with V8's because of the way they are treated. |

Yeah, it geats a bit much being treated like a second class citizen.
I think AVESCO view support events as useful track sweepers and rubber appliers and not much else! FHolden has to be nuts promising that many cars. They couldn't field 15 at the moment no matter how good the reason. NRC sold its cars to some bloke in the US and a lot of the older cars might turn up but probably wouldn't make it through qualifying. |

I just checked the FHolden website. They mention Murcho winning the second race but no results are posted.
Reading through the race reports i think there may have only been 6 finishers in race 2. |

Dont know that car, all i am saying is that i have heard from a lot of people in NSW that the wagon is not exactly legit. And before you say it, a few of these people are not competitors either. There have been a few occasions where cars from QLD have had different interpretations of the rules compared to those in NSW. But until someone puts in a protest we will never know.

Queenslander have ALWAYS had different interpretations of rules to anyone else (Sor Jo Bjelke Peterson comes to mind )
On serious note though - I have just received the CAMS penalties from Hidden Valley and there is NO mention of Stewards hearings or findings into any other category than V8's. I have contacted CAMS to see if I can, on a regular basis, have other findings made available to me. Last edited by RaceTime; 22 May 2002 at 06:22. |

Then again, there have been some Mexican's with interesting interpretations of the rules too...
Then again, if a Hollinger gearbox out of a V8 Supercar can be sqeezed into an 808 Shagger, with first gear blocked off, and it's legit- then there might be something wrong with the rules (?). Then again, is it within the spirit of the rules to use titanium bolts to hold the bumper bar of your RX7 on?? That's the problem with Improved Production rules- they aren't exactly clear cut- look at the ****fight now happening with late model cars, especially those who rocked up to the Nationals last year with new Mitsibishi Evos, complete with Lawyer... |

What's that? You're eating Nachos for dinner, flushed down with some Corona (not the Toyota type)?
