2013 silly season thread would suit, on both accounts!

Not really sure why the V8 Commission want to glamourise something that is merely restarting a race again. Safety Cars should not be used to spice up the racing...
Under the current rules a race leader already loses enough of an advantage, why are we making them restart with their nearest challenger right alongside? Imagine the carnage this might cause late in the race at say, Bathurst? Safety Cars breed Safety Cars they say..... |

May as well bring in the lucky dog ruling while they're at it.

and what of lapped cars in the mix, hopefully they will be told to get out of the way or start behind leap lap cars, but at places like Bathurst with the lap distance, that could be extremely unfair to someone who is only just been made a lap down...

Good idea.
The good old boys do okay with the on the road courses. I'd expect the best drivers in Australia to cope in the same manner. |

i would also expect the top category in NZ to do standing starts, but the technical boffins claim the driveline can't handle it ??? |

The 2nd place getter is likely to be the biggest loser - hung out wide on 1st turn while the guy in 3rd is right up the bumper of 1st place (so 2nd has no where to squeeze back in)......but it will make the 6pm news given the carnage that will happen

This article seems to indicate that, thankfully, double file restarts after safety cars will not be adopted
http://www.v8xmagazine.com.au/index....2013-explained rather, a rolling start for the points paying Saturday sprint is what is planned With the formats in general, do we now have a return of the dreaded CPS? |

CPS shouldn't be needed for the longer formats with the small tanks the cars run - in other words, they should need to stop in any case. Have to wait & see how the tyre regs are done re pit stops in the shorter races I guess. Last edited by Tourer; 8 Dec 2012 at 06:43. |

Something that I'm curious about is the tyre situation for the 360 format. It says that there will be no refueling during the races, but will they need stops for tyres? All of those weekends are soft tyre only, except for Hidden Valley, which is mixed...

i also think they should ban pit-stops during safety cars.

The only thing I can think of, that won't affect the race too much, is only allow one car per garage in the lane at a time under race and safety car conditions.

Really? sprint races, artificial tyre stops and rolling starts??
am I the only one whos sceptical of all this? havent we been down this path before, and the backlash lead to the current format, which actually isnt that bad. has this been designed to save some transaxles or give them some time to be serviced / change?? |

Rolling starts? Where was that mentioned? I really hope this isn't the case.
As far as I was aware, it was double-file rolling RE-starts. |

there will be no need to make tyre stops. (unless you want to)
the cars will have the ability to make it to the end of the race. The idea is to get rid of/reduce pit stops. in those "360" events |

I didn't think it could get to be a bigger joke, they proved me wrong.
Might aswell re-introduce full reverse grid races for every event (including Bathurst) |
