The writing was probably on the wall as soon as it stopped being a stand alone event.

Good news. I hate that track, but hope there will be a replacement round

Why not do two rounds in NZ?
We all love the supercars when they come to town I know i'll get slammed for this comment, but to me it makes sense and forges stronger relationships between both countries as far as m/sport is concerned. Just an idea.... |

can't they only do 1 round per country outside of AU as part of the FIA mandate?

I too think the second New Zealand round would be cool, especially if it was the Auckland street circuit as was contemplated before Pukekohe was chosen

Now that would be worth going to....a decent street race in Auckland. Can't see it happening though as there are loads of residential high rise properties that will no doubt winge and whine about the noise. You never know though, maybe something like that would be on the cards axemans comments suggest they are only allowed to do the one round in each country they visit. I was not aware of that, but if it is the case then they would either have to look at another aussie round, or head to Asia and run a round there. I always remember the first time they went to Abu Dhabi, and under the lights the cars just looked great. And its a cool track too. |

Street circuits are just too expensive to put on, particularly with the ever increasing safety demands and they always run at a massive loss. Far better to use tracks with a permanent infrastructure as they are also less disruptive.
Two rounds in NZ would make a lot of sense, with Pukekohe and Hampton Downs being close enough to minimise internal freight costs and with the largest population base. |

With the supposed upgrades coming to Hamptons now or soonish, it would make sense to run two rounds in NZ back to back so they only have the freight everything over once, and then race on two consequetive weekends

NZ rounds at Pukekohe and Hampton Downs will never happen back to back!

The Cromwell 1000. And only 50-60km to Queenstown and Wanaka. If you got the date right, how many do you think would come for the weekend. Or long weekend. Racing and a bit of sightseeing for the wife and kids?

Jesus, they had (and still have) enough trouble having one event in NZ, and now you're expecting two?
Who's going to pay for this? They don't go anywhere without a big cheque paid. |

I like to Cromwell idea, but i have to say that flights in and out of Queenstown are a complete pain in the a**e. I'm pretty sure they still can't fly in and out unless its in daylight?
And yes Trevor no doubt you are right |

I saw the last laps of the 2011 Le Mans race at Zhuhai, the last Audi vs Peugeot battle. There was absolutely no public.
