HSCC Super Touring Car Championship
This Championship seems to be growing if any of the stories in the press are true?
The organisers of the Classic are expecting 'More than 50'. http://www.touringcartimes.com/2014/...eason-preview/ There seems to be great interest from Europe for this event. And for the future? Even interest from our friends, 'Down-Under' to come along in 2015. http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140701 Being brought-up with these cars, the best meetings of the season for me will be the Superprix at Brands Hatch and the earlier Oulton Park event where they will support the newer, some say not as good as, BTCC machines. |

Looking forward to this happening. I think John Cleland reckoned on 20 entries for Thruxton on his Twitter page.

And that is because a lot of other entries will not be ready in time for it!!
The entry for the other rounds are going to be amazing. |

I wasn't saying that was a bad entry, far from it. Very promising.

How many drivers were reported for exceeding track limits, and were any of them penalised in any way?

Which track limits would those be, as the pictures of 1,3,5 & 6 look okay but not 2 & 4?

I seem to belong to a small group of like-minded racers and ex-racers who happen to believe that the white line delinates the track limit, no matter what fancy paintwork lies beyond it. I would be quite happy to see brick walls built at these chicanes, because it would take more skill to negotiate that rather than the current trend. And it can be done - not the walls, I mean. Viewing the BTCC yesterday at Donington, I was pleased to see that vey few of the cars were using the curbs at the Craner Curves and certainly not as launching pads as in previous years, and more of them were able to exit Roberts without running over the curbing. I assume the drivers were notified of potential penalties at the briefings. So, it can be done. |

White lines/kerbs?
The current rules are very clear. No need for stupid brick walls!! |

I have mentioned this before, but you just need to view the touring car race from Crystal Palace in 1972, I think, to appreciate how hard charging the leading cars were, and they didn't exceed the white line. They couldn't, even if they wanted to, because they would have collided with very solid vertical banks or solid walls. Watching Chris Craft in his Escort was a joy to behold. Oh, and the didn't "swap" paint or door handles either, and they certainly didn't give them a tap in the hope that their opponent might go off line allowing them to pass. And no diving down inside on a corner in forlorn hope that the car in front would give way. |

We might not all agree with the rules but they are clearly defined so provided they are consistently applied we will all know where we stand. Some drivers were called up by the clerk at Thruxton, maybe track limits were the reason.
