A tragic loss. One of the best drivers in the field, and it was scadalous that a man of his ability couldn't get a regular ride this year.
RIP Dan Wheldon. Gone too soon. |

A sad, sad day. I was just mentally congratulating myself and colleagues for another weekend without serious injury at a meeting in the UK, and then this happened. RIP Dan, you'll be missed.

RIP Dan Wheldon, one of Britian's most underrated drivers (back here at least).
Shocking to here the news of a death in a top-level series. It's still a very dangerous sport. Thoughts especially go to his family. |

Cannot believe it. I have followed his career since I saw him race in the French Renault Campus Championship in '98 when it came to Silverstone & Snetterton. In fact I can remember marshalling at Seer and we all commented on what a great propect he was. Pity he never got to race in F1 but his chosen path brought him greater rewards if not the deserved recognition. In my mind he was better than Hamilton or Button,he won the Greatest race in the World- twice! My thoughts are with family, friends, the safety crews who had to deal with the incident and fellow drivers especially Dario. I bet he would trade that title to race against Dan again. RIP

A dark dark day for motorsport. A true talent has been lost and also a nice guy that deserved so much more from the sport. My thoughts are with all his family and friends during this awful time. A true great taken from us far too early.
RIP Dan. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten. |

First time I've consciously seen something like this happen live (first experience was Ayrton Senna's crash, at the age of 1), I'm absolutely devastated by this news.
RIP Dan Wheldon. Last edited by Senninha25; 16 Oct 2011 at 23:07. |

A tragic loss that shocked me when just was noticed. In his life, did his best in his career against all odds, won the Indy 500 two times, one in the memorable centennial edition. Condolences to his family and relatives. A great champion has left us.

They had him on the radio moments before his accident. Along with the champ contenders, he was star of the show. RIP Dan.

A true champion, won Indy 500 twice, 2005 with one of the best teams and in 2011 against all the odds, that will be his finest moment (in my opinion).
One of the most under-rated drivers from the UK, but he did brilliantly in his life, a shame he has been taken too soon, he could have been greater. R.I.P. Dan Wheldon (1978-2011). |
