Haga close to agreeing with Aprilia WSB !

Heres the latest from MCN !

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/racing...97815&navID=36

An announcement on who will partner Regis Laconi on the RSV Mille in 2002 is due in days. And it looks likely to be either Noriyuki Haga or Karl Muggeridge.

Aprilia bosses are known to be very keen to get the popular and hard-riding Japanese star on the RSV1000 next year.

Much depends on what Yamaha has offered him, which is currently unknown. Some believe he has been offered another year on a two-stroke 500.

Aprilia’s WSB boss Guiseppe Bernicchia said: " We are still negotiating with Haga and if we can get him to ride the bike next year we will. "

" As for Muggeridge he had a very good test on the bike and he is a good opportunity for the future – we will see within a week. "

in the World Supersport series on a GSX-R600 but has found himself without a job for next year despite him being the top Suzuki finisher in the world championship. He was sixth.

If Muggeridge misses out on the Aprilia deal, he is among the front runners to John McGuinness in the Honda Britain World Supersport effort for 2002.

Troy Corser looks almost certain to leave Aprilia.

It would be great to have Haga back in WSB, but Corser, who knows. I heard he may race a Ducati in the AMA series, also i heard there may be a second L&M Ducati next year.

And what of Muggeridge, what happened to his World Supersport ride at Suzuki. I read that Batta would run a Supersport team next season and that Chambon would ride partnered by Muggeridge, and Fujiwara was sacked. Hopefully he will find a top Superbike or Supersport ride.

maybe that ferrari guy will re-form his Ducati squad for Corser, they guy who was running his bikes in 98. I think the L&M Ducati ride is most likely.

Haga will stay with Yamaha. Aprilia can't afford to pay him the amount he wants to ride the bike!

it would be a career saving move though, haga isn't cut out for 500s, maybe for the 990cc's

i say give haga the ducati, his long term relationship with yamaha has brought him the All-Japan Superbike champs, Kanto 250cc champs and Suzuka 8 hours (no world success)...

Aprilia is a career saving move in my opinion...

On one side, I'd be happy to see again Haga in SBK, but...

If Haga goes back to SBK he always will have an unfinnished bussiness with GP bikes. People could say he was not good enough for FIM and had to come back to SBK, and I would hate that! Haga is a such hero in a bike that he would have to have another shot at GP FIM.

This season he has not been good at all and I have a bitter taste for that. I'd love to see him in 2002 again in these bikes and doing a really good work. He has not to win anything, but doing his usual brilliant stuff would do enough to me (just like McCoy: he is a hero even if he doesn't win). Just one more try...

If Haga had another bad year in GP in 2002, then I almost would prefer he came back to SBK. When something doesn't work, it doesn't work, and anyway we want to enjoy his riding at least in SBK!

I can understand Haga wanting to go back and go for the WSBK title. he wanted to get it for Yamaha before the moved him to GP500. However, with the coming regulation changes in GP500 he may find himslef with a little bit on an advantage having just raced bikes with similar weight and power last year. Its hard to say.

Rumors also say that Corser is interested in racing on four wheels next year.

i really dont understand haga this year, when he made his debut on a 500 he was on the podium, but a full year the best he does is 4th !
