Could have been a few. Gasly didn't get enough racing in which was unfortunate, but any one of the Mercedes drivers, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Kvyat, Perez, and Raikkonen would be worthy. I've given it to Perez - he had somehow gotten 3rd into his grasp but the soft tyre gamble unfortunately cost him and passing Leclerc (who honestly might be worthy of being discussed too) once those hard tyres were back into form was going to be a big ask around Imola.
I also wish to give Russell and Albon a negative vote for those embarrassing spins... |

Danny Ric, a solid drive that delivered the goods.

Dani Ric. And I’m allowed to vote for him because location doesn’t check out.

I went with Kvyat but was impressed with Sainz's collision avoidance skills.

A vote I never thought I would give. Kvyat. Personally I think he should have gone long ago from F1 but he gave himself some kind of a chance today. Still struggling to see how Perez could possibly have been dropped from RP/AM for a man who has not only lost his mojo but has completely forgotten what it ever looked like....

I didnt really get a good look at the SV vs Mags incident but SV did well to get back into the top 10...till the botched stop.
Declining skill set and bad luck often seem to go together. |

I went with Kimi .... a super 45+ lap stint on the mediums to be running 4th. Then stopped under green for a safety car to be deployed the following lap.
He needs to borrow Lewis' horseshoe. An SC stop would have had him running for serious points. Kudos also to Kvyat, Perez and DannyRic |

Daniil Kvyat had the bit between his teeth, particularly with that move round the outside and made a lot of the fact the AlphaTauri was very performant this weekend. Hamilton was as brilliant as in Portimão, grinding down Bottas and surpassing him. The VSC was useful to him, but he did a lot of the work himself.
However, for me, the driver of the Grand Prix was Daniel Ricciardo again. A gulf exists between him and Ocon. I'm unsure if it shows how tight the midfield is, if Ocon's being a bit poor, or if Ricciardo is simply super on form (probably a bit of all of them), but he thrashed his team-mate. You could put Verstappen in that category too, every race, as a potential DOTGP. Unfortunately for Albon, it isn't working out. |

A sympathy vote for Gasly here. Just a superb weekend ruined by technical injustice.

You couldn’t fault Gasly. I wouldn’t say he’s the best out there, but he has several times put in a solid performance when all is right, although other times he has struggled. Obviously it was a shame he went out early, who knows what could have happened? There was still a long way to go, so the race could have gone either way, but he was looking quite solid

It could have been Kvyat, it could have been Raikkonen, but I gave it to Perez. Checo drove a brilliant long first stint (he's the consummate tyre-preserver) and it was an unfortunate tyre gamble by the team at the end that lost him third.
With a heavy heart, I award POTR to George Russell. I don't want to, but having dished it out to others it is only fair that he gets it this time. Sorry George. If it's any consolation it comes with a big dose of sympathy, because we've all been there. |

I suspect that George would accept POTR with good grace......
