Coyne signs a Swiss guy
Dayle Coyne has signed a Swiss F3000 driver named Joel Camathias for 2003- just read it on Champweb and CART.com.
It's good to see Dale Coyne Racing back in action for a full season!!! There going with Lolas, and probably just one car. read here- http://www.cart.com/News/Article.asp?ID=5266 |

Dale's been talking about two cars. I'm holding him to that.

For what I've heard, Camathias, who raced in the Telefonica Series, wasn't too impressive. He's had some good results, but just not like Montoya. But you never know.

Yeah, he hasn't got a particularly strong record.
BUT, he was half a second faster than Lotterer at the test. And we all saw how impressive Lotterer was. |

Is he coming along with a bag of cash? does he have some talent to go with it?
we'll see... |

I hope Joel does a good job. But like all of motorsports these days money talks. I think this is his website check it out looks like he has a lot of sponsors:
http://www.joelcamathias.com/welcome.cfm It also looks like his dad got an F1 superlicence at one time so racing seems to run in the family. |

His great uncle is pretty interesting though.. just did a search on Google - big thick glasses, but a very good racer in his day, sadly killed at Brands when his forks broke.

CART has hinted that there'd be ten different flags represented on the grid next year.
I'm really happy that Coyne's playing the game next year. I never thought I'd miss him as much as I did. Now that I'm seeing more and more owners showing their true colours, it's a breath of fresh air to get a guy like him back into the series. |

he isn't good at all. He thrashed a couple of F3000 cars, which is pretty hard to achieve

Yikes....ugh...well Cart has had some pretty bad backmarkers in the past..looks like they'll have another. But, I should really wait and see. Hopefully Coyne can fill the other seat with someone capable of points finishes.

Dale Coyne, from an interview on CART.com:
"We're happy to have this one done and working very hard on getting a second one done because we definitely plan on running two cars next year." |

I'm holding onto the fact that he was a good half second faster than Lotterer in testing. And Andre impressed.

Coyne returning is great for the CART series. Here's to Coyne having two cars on the grid in 2003.

I think this'll be a pure backmarker of an entry, but having another car on the grid is good news,a nd it wouldn't be surprising if Dale runs a second car. Joel could prove us wrong, but i don't have high expectations of him.

This kid is not a very quick driver, but he is not also as slow as Yoong or Zlobin. I rate him as a midfielder in F3000 so he may well be a backmarker in CART ... but we are always learning and the kid is only 21.
By the way, did u know that he is taller than Justin Wilson ?! |

He may turn out to be very good -- perhaps all he needed was a chance, and he's very young. And we shouldn't expect him to be Senna right out of the box and say either he's Senna or a loser. My friend Josh Beaulieu is a good driver who crashes a lot because he is trying too hard to impress his sponsors -- it is bloody work getting $300,000 a year to race, and if everyone is yelling LOSER at you then your sponsors tend to notice. We should give him a chance to settle in before we dismiss him as a loser. I'd hate to have you guys writing my job evaluation!

He'll do a good job, as well as one can do in a Coyne. This will be a learning year for sure. BTW, It's tough going from F.Federale to F3000 in a year & a half, so you can't really judge by race results so far....

He has an interesting helmet design. That has to be worth something.
