Ideas for a racing game
I've been thinking, it would be good to have a racing game, along the lines of GPL, in terms of the physics model, and how good it is to drive.
It would be a general game based on motorsport across the board, across the eras. There would be the basic game, plus a series of add-on packs, so you could buid it up like you would a scalextrics collection for instance. In the basic game you could have the F1 championship in lets say 1976, and all the tracks and cars from the 1986 WSC and Le Mans, plus the 1995 WRC. Then the add-on packs could go as follows (including all cars) Le Mans 1969 Pikes Peak 1992 Le Mans 1927 Mille Miglia 1955 Brand Hatch 1971 BOAC 500 (Cars only) Lotus 72 Audi R8 Lotus 79 BRM 1962 Porsche 917 Ford Escort Rally Peurgeot 205 T-16 Toyota Celica Pikes Peak Audi Quattro Pikes Peak (tracks only) Hockenheim 1968 Mugello Spa 1967 Pescara 1957 Rheims Crystal Palace On top of this, you could have a program on which you could write your own grids (ie decide which cars can be driven for a particular event. |

Jordi, all you want is JUST a current CART game?
This is JUST the best thing I have ever seen, and it isn't JUST me who thinks it. |

Exactly, i mean, you can disassemble the entire car and check for wear and damage! *drewls again and constantly for 5 hours straight*

Oh yeah, sure this game is great, but I'm a CART lover y'know?
I have IndyCar II , I have CART Precision Racing It's been since 97 without a CART game! And sure Racing Legends, but I'm also sure my computer wouldn't stand that and economic situation right now is not great. |

I agree with Jordi that we need a Champcar game. Brands Hatch, slicks, half proper gearboxes, ovals, road courses, street circuits, oh that'd be great.
Racing Legends looks promising but I am skeptical as to whether or not it'll ever reach production. It's a massive project... |

i think that because of it's versatility and marketability it should at least get into production - however from a purely business view - because of it's detail and realism, it's only really going to be marketable to really one group of gamers - us saddo's called "Enthusiasts" - which is a very small group.
in the end, people like Sierra, EA and other game manufacturers/producers are looking for Money-making potential...something that is accesible to every gamer and every machine. Racing Legends - although adaptable, maybe a little too specialist and too in-depth. i hope though, that im wrong - because that is a helluva-game!!! |

Yeah, but imagine what spec of pc you'll need to get it running properly!
I hope that that would be the only downside to it though. |
