Why should Murphy be awarded 3rd place points
Is this poll over at the RPM website serious? About whether Greg Murphy should be awarded 3rd place points for the 2nd race at Adelaide.
Now i'm assuming they may have talked abit about it on the show today (Superbikes on Foxtel were much more appealing ), what did they say about it, if any? There is no way Murphy should be awarded 3rd place points. For starters who's to say Murphy wouldn't have had a lose at the next corner or so all by himself. It's just the way motorsport goes, sometimes your lucky, other times not. It's worked fine for all these years, no need for change now |

I am in full support of the decision of Ingall to 12th and Murph stays where he finished. As you say racer69, who's to say his engine wouldn't have blown or he wouldn't have had a mishap and run off the track in half a lap anyway?? By Ringall going back to 12th, it effectively meant he spun with Murph and I believe this is a fair enough result. It would be impossible to boost Murph up to 3rd because there are too many variables involved in doing so.

Leave it where it is.... fixing results post event makes no sense at all... look at the Bathurst PROCAR enduro a few years ago, everyone but the Clerk of Course was named as the winner....

Yeah I couldnt even believe that they even thought about asking that question. Because in all seriousness how can u award a place that someone finished in, I thought Murphy and Ingal handled it quite well. Channel 10 on the other hand, oh dear.

So let me guess this right. Why race the full race when I can get punted out of 3rd place and lap say 5 of 30 and say "I should be awarded 3rd because I was there when I was illegally punted off". Extreem example but you see what I mean. Not on, that's racing.

Kind of like a penalty try for motor racing isn't it. Next they will be have the podium at the start of the meeting for the last race meeting because nothing could be made offical. If you get my drift.

The most odd thing I found about this topic was the results of the survey - don't quote me but the result was 60-something % said leave the result, and 30-something % said he should be re-instated to 3rd. I would have thought it would have been a stronger result than only 60%.

How long is a piece of string? If you were to reinstate Murphy to 3rd, could you imagine the kind of claims that would be lodged post race?? As they say, "That's racing"
