And Casey still has a bung shoulder and wrist... and looked in serious pain on RPM last weekend....
Good on him, congrats to the rider, the team and his family for being behind him 100% of the way |

Good Result as he was only qualified tenth on the grid he should be favorite for Philip Island but lets see how he goes at Malasia next.

Stoner will win before the season is out, hopefully at Phillip Island. That would be extra-sweet for the young fellow…

He really blew it this time. There is no doubting his pace, but he crashes too often. Perhaps he's listening to Lucio too much?

His rear brake locked which mean't he did not just fall off with a rear tyre breakout.

Unfortunately Casey came off whilst in a good position again, he must be wondering where that first win is going to come from.

Actually, the team seem to think the engine hiccupped and caused the rear to lock up... thats certainly what it looked like, a clutch engaging strangely, or an engine somewhere near seizure...
Very sad, Casey could have walked away with it |

Caseys comments from the Gold Coast Bulletton
Aussie crashes out of 125cc 20Oct03 HUNTER Valley teenager Casey Stoner crashed out of contention while leading the Australian 125cc motorcycle grand prix at Phillip Island yesterday. Stoner, who turned 18 last week, failed to finish the race after falling victim to the dreaded Lukey Heights in the slippery conditions for the race. Italian Honda rider Andrea Ballerini made the most of Stoner's misfortune to claim his first GP win. The former European champion collected his first points of the season in a 23-lap race where the majority of the leading riders came to grief on the greasy circuit. Stoner, on an Aprilia, led for the first six laps before he high-sided into the mud and out of the race before his home fans. "I would have loved to have won in Australia today. I am not too disappointed, though, as in the wet it takes a lot of luck and it was not my day," said Stoner. "In the race, the bike felt good and I felt very comfortable. "But going into Honda corner, I crashed and it felt like the rear locked up. "On the exit, it felt like it was dragging. Then going through Lukey Heights at the top end of the circuit the rear came around on me unexpectedly and I crashed. "I'm very sorry for all my Aussie fans but thank them for their support |

It was a very strange incident. Obviously not Casey's fault due to the location and type. A shame as he was probably on for a win.

Congrats to Casey Stoner, he and his family would be well pleased... hopefully he can celebrate his 18th birthday with a (legal) drink or 3 now
I believe there were some other options in the wind for 2004, such as setting up and running his own team.... but the dollars got to stratospheric proportions and it seemed to all get too hard. Here's hoping the KTM deal is the way of the future for Casey... there is no doubting he can ride, on a not-quite-works spec bike... imagin ethe attention of a factory team on his performances |
