I was disturbed that a difference in opinion resulted in the statement:
“I have a fair idea of who you are. Unless u post under your real name with such comments then i am not even going to give it the time of day.” This was in the Rallying and Rallycross section under the BRDA /Blyton Arthur Debenham thread. http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=44056 I thought the forums advice was not to give out personal information, addresses, etc. I will accept any criticism of my views. Clearly some are suffering personal insults, shouldn't this be discouraged or moderated?. I know one of the characters and I can deduce the name of the source of the above quote. I would only supply this by private message to a moderator for the benefit of 10/10s. Could you clarify your advice to users? |

The general rule for internet safety is not to give out personal details.
Giving out your personal information on a public website is not an intelligent thing to do - although a full name is not necessarily an issue. Addresses and telephone numbers are far more of a problem. In addition, it doesn't really matter - someone could come on and say they're Pat Doran or Dermott Carnegie (just as an example) and without some extensive digging, it would be difficult to prove that they're not. |
