No one needs reminding of the atrocity witnessed in Monza. But I would like to remind the forum about the incidents between the leaders and Mazzacane. When I saw his first go at Schumi I was just thinking "that was a bit stupid", but I could not belive my eyes when I saw what he had done to Mika Hakkinen. That was outright dangerous and the worst bit of driving today. The only difference is that nothing happened so it tends to be forgotten. I do not mean to sound cold considering the events at Monza, but I think what Mazzacane did has to be looked at just like the other incidents need to be looked at. Ok no one was hurt, but maybe next time, we wont be as lucky.

I think Martin Brundle said it best when he called Mazzacane's driving as Pathetic.

Oh come on, give the fella a break. It's the only fun this boy has! Mazza outbreaking TGF at the first chicane was great fun! He probably grinned from ear to ear for some laps.
Imagine you're driving a Minardi ... at Monza. Chanceless al weekend (although the Pugs proved equally worse ). Then this top gun called Schumacher in his shiny red zillion dollar supercar slipstreams up your back and will pass you at the first chicane. Wanna outbrake me? Well come on outbreak me ... |

I agree. It would have been fun for Mazzacane, but thats the only person it would have been fun for. I thought Minardi were an Italian team, which is why I could not understand such disloyal behaviour to their big brother. I admit the Schumi incident wasnt that bad. But he was weaving all over the straight when Hakkinen was trying to pass him. I suppose at least we cant complain about favourtism.

I didn't see anything wrong with the first incident at the chicane. However his swerving on the straight was ridiculous.
I will NOT, on the other hand, have words said against Gene... |

He had fun ! His dream was to be in front of a 2 WDC champion, in a red car ! Just a few seconds, while his family record that on tape ! Then after 30 years, he will show that to his grandsons : "See ? That's me in front of that German Fellow ! Ok I know you don't understand what the commentator is saying... it's english, he's saying how GREAT I am !"

Come on Mazzacane isn't that bad. He's doing his laps and gets the car to the finish. Everybody will have forgotten him in a couple of years. Compare that with the Legendary Taki.
And no badmouthing Gene. He's a mighty fine driver. |

Who? Gene or Mazzacane.
Gene: No! Mazzacane: I don't really care, he'll be gone soon. He still IS the worst of the current lot. |

When I saw the first incident at the chicane it looked to me like Michael backed off. It appeared he was a bit wary of shoving the ferrari alongside the minardi as he wasn't sure what Mazzacane was going to do.
As for Mazzacane weaving on the straight, I think it was a genuine (although a bit silly) mistake. Mazzacane was in the middle of the track as Hakkinen came behind him. A blue flag was waved and Gaston reacted to it by pulling to his left. Hakkinen obviously expected him to go to the right as most people would have done. He has been pretty poor this year though. Surely Alonso will get the seat in 2001? |

RIKB: Exactly.
Silverbabe: Don't come in mouthing off about Gene. It will get you nowhere in this place. Wodonnell: I hope we see Alonso and Gene at Minardi next season too. |
