J.V., Eddie Irvine, Johhny Herbert and Jean Alesi.....that would be fantastic if they joind CART in 2004! Can you guys think of any other ex-F1 pilots you would like to see in CART?....it doesn't matter if there young or vetrans. Damon Hill? It's something to think about, especially since the news around here hasn't been that positive the past few days.

There are a ton of ex-F1 pilots who would do well in CART. Unfortunately, CART needs to get its house in order first before it becomes a real viable option again.
JV would need a year off before contemplating such a move. Poor Jean didn't exactly tear it up in his Mercedes this year did he? Other people who deserve top rides, Justin Wilson, Coulthard could be available in 05', Alan McNish,, Mark Gene, Jos Verstappen, Nick Heidfeld, Thomas Enge, Ralph Firman... Not in F1, but Townsend Bell.. |

Irvine would be cool. Can't you just see that Guinness sponsored Lola now! and maybe a one off Black-n-Tan scheme. Seriously though, I like the idea of some ex F1 drivers in Cart. Personally, even though he just tests, I would like to see Luca Badoer in Cart.

Justin Wilson would be a nice candidate, since he's just been royally dumped by Jaguar.
Rumours abound he'll be back at Minardi, but as usual, it's probable they'll go for a money over talent and Justin could find himself homeless once again.... So if he's outbid for Minardi, would he bring Justin Wilson plc to Champ Cars....all he has to do is phone Darren Manning and he'll be told how much fun there is to be had! Nothing but wild speculation and hoping....but still, it'd be nice! |

I've said it before, I don't get why more ex-F1 driver or those in crappy teams don't go to CART. Somehow I doubt JV though. JV seems to have some sort of problem with going to CART right now, same thing for EI. I'd love to see HHF. He's a guy who in the right environment is one of the fastest guys out there.
Another point: Do ANY F1 drivers look like they enjoy what they're doing outside of standing on the podium? It looks pretty painfull to me. Out of the drivers that have gone to F1 recently do any of them look like they are having more/any fun? Da Matta has pretty much said it's not as much fun. (he said it rather diplomatically) JPM seems miserable and has all sorts of tantrums. JV clearly had no fun. Besides "prestige", money and following a dream why is F1 better from a driver's perpective? Even if you win in F1 you're not facing the competition of the field. For the most part you face the competition of at most 3 drivers 2 of whom are at a disadvantage. Last edited by Snrub; 3 Dec 2003 at 01:10. |

F1 is a lot of business and politics. That's why I just watch it for the racing and try to ignore everything else. I prefer CART for the atmosphere.
