I wouldn't fit AVO dampers to my trailer.!
Bilstein, valved correctly would be the cheapest and more succesful option. |

Don't touch AVO's. they have no place on a real race car and will cause you headaches.
Does Koni make a 2812 to fit? Not the cheapest but probably best value. And they're double adjustable. |

I've used AVO's for several seasons on a 1980 FF car, and prefer them to Spax's. But agree Bilstein or Koni's are better if money is no object. What type of FF do you have?

Crossle 45F..Used spax for the last couple of seasons and found bicycle pumps would be better.I think pre82 cars are only allowed single adjustable shocks.Anyone hear of GAZ SHOCK they were at the show last weekend and seemed to have a good product.

I've owned various Crossle's and always found the PAS200 spax were fine, if you can get some Bilstein's valved to suit i would think that would be the way to go. Downside with the bilstein's is that you dont have the ability to soften for the wet.

Don't see a problem with the AVO's. Gary Jones won the NWFF Championship in a Swift '92 shod with AVO's. Dave Harwood at RSM recommends them as well.
I suppose like anything, if money is no object, then you could go for a so called better one, but having talked to the guy on the SPAX stand at the Autosport Show, he said that it's all down to personal preference. They are all constructed the same and most use the same materials. The difference with AVO's and SPAX, is that there are no stupid import costs on them, so they can keep the prices relatively low. Besides, when you put it another way. For the price of a set of Ohlin's, you could have 3 full sets of AVO's....... |
