Best Car 1990-2003
What do you think was the best Touring car between the years 1990 and 2003? Not all the cars are here but please feel free to tell us which car out of the choice of ten is your favorite or best.

I know it's being picky, but Renault ran the 19 in 1993, before running the Laguna in 1994.
And you could have included the Vauxhall Cavelier, perhaps at the expense of Peugeot, which I can safely say won't get many votes, if any at all! Last edited by OVERSTEER; 4 Feb 2004 at 15:10. |

Hay hay, dont diss the 406 COUPE. When the new rules came in, that 406 coupe for me was the best looking car out there...in its yellow and green colours it was the best looking Peugeot i've ever seen and yes I was sad to see it replaced by the smaller 307.

I'd say the Laguna, it was consistanly a front running car from its first couple of seasons in the series, right up till the year it left.

I'll vote for the Peugeot 406 sedan...it was slow but those green and gold colours made it the best looking car out there! Other than that, I would have to say the BMW's were good.

For me it was a cross between the 406 and the S40, the S40 got it in the end because I think it was a big improvment on the 850 and my dad worked on it while working for TWR.
I agree though that the Pugs colours looked great! If the question had been which was the best colour scheme it would of been no contest |

Would probably choose the BMW from the list, but not a patch on the Alfa from '94 I would say in terms of charisma and style.

I preferred the '95 Alfa myself, it may not have been successful but I think it looked great.

Accord, no doubt.. very fast and always between the first positions, even if it never managed to win a championship... but in general the best was the Audi A4, the fastest, the strongest and the best looking... It is the best touring car ever!!

Its good to see so many different opinions of the cars i've put down. I have to say that my favorite car is the Laguna it had to be the best car on the track in its time and certainly the better looking car.

I voted 850. The estate was there to get the shock, and seeing as Volvos are seen as estate cars, it was an excellent marketing ploy. Also, more room for sponsor decals!
More importantly, the 1995 car was very similar to the previous '94 Estate, proving that the chassis and suspension was up to the job of being a race winner. Rydell get the most pole positions too IIRC, just ahead of Cleland's Cavalier. |

vectra - the 'good old boys' era, always good to see battling away and many an accident. Not the best looking or livered car, but always in the thick of the action.
As for best livery has to be the blue / yellow 2000 mondeo, the green / gold 98? pug 406 or the yellow / blue lagunas of 97. |

The Cavalier looked good IMO, especially in the 1995 livery.
I voted for the Astra, on the strength of the performances of that car from 2001-2003. My favorite liveries were on the BMW however, I liked the VLR 1991 Securicor colours and the 1992 Listerine colours. And the Colours ran by Matt Neal in 1993. |

Renault is maybe the most consistent there, Mondeo and Cavalier were good at the beginning, but newer models weren't so good, Mondeo really stuggling.

Statisically, the Nissan Primera I think is the best car, but they really only had 2 good years.
My personal favorite was the old Mondeos...V6 whine sounds awesome! If you're looking for the "best", the Vauxhall Astra should be there too. |

Looks like i'll have to do another poll in the future and try and put the cars like the vauxhall and nissan on. Since there's people that like other cars that i haven't put on. But all the same the input is great.

I chose the BMWs from the list, but I preferred the Audi A4 Quattros.
