O' Brian signs for NZ V8 Championship
Looks like Mr 0'Brian is looking for some softer opposition. Hope he takes the car shampoo with him.

Softer opposition?
I wouldnt be saying that about the NZ V8 touring cars mate. When David thexton was racing in this class he struggled. |

well thats sort of what i meant, he did as bad in the NZ V8 touring cars as he did in the V8 supercars.
Basically this class is very competitive, and im sure all the NZ supporters would be a bit angry at your comments saying the class has softer opposition. There is alot more action and enjoyment watching this class than the V8 supercars. |

Actually Nicho has a point.
While i wouldn't be so sure it is better, the cars are very competitive and times are very close. The cars are closely matched and budgets are smaller, so even though the cream rises to the top, there is very competitive racing through the field. Some teams, and their sponsers and panelbeaters will attest to the fact that it is no way softer, more affordable though. |

For sure the racing is way better in NZ, but the depth of competition in the NZ championship isn't as good as it is in the Aussie one.
Thexton never failed to make the qualifying cut in NZ, and if I remember rightly, used to qualify between 20th and 25th most of the time in a 30 car field. There are some worse drivers in it then him! So is this Charlie O'Brian? And if it is, does this mean it will run WPS colours? |

Lone Star JR is in the car regularly, one of his Porsches, a ride day, Targas around the shop... so he has kept his eye in, and pace up.... slow initially at Sandown, but was totally on it towards the end.... I was wondering if this team was also to be WPS supported |

00XR8, I understand he will race for Tracer Motorsport alongside John McIntyre, so I guess he will be racing in Caltex Havoline colours.

Hi All
Blueblood, I don't think Tracer have the Caltex sponsorship this year, I think that has gone to the Pedersen/Fogg team. Just a question to some of the aussies reading this - have you actually seen any of the racing in this class? (I know that one or two of you have ). |

Guys, Tracy is correct. Lyall has absorbed the Caltex money as part of the Pedersen/Fogg Ford effort.

Peckstar: You are close - it was the Liquor King DriveSafe 500. Rattie was possibly running, and Murph did 1 or 2 if I remember rightly, as well as Aaron Slight.
Apparently the 4 speed boxes are to save on costs....but I do hear ya, loud and in stereo!! |

I remember looking this up before, but I forgot what the answer was so I may as well ask you directly. Are you part of the Anderson clan that ran the Pinepac Fords in the 80s? A pair of Group A Mustangs, a Group A 351 XE Falcon (the one that Johnson races at Wellington)and before that the 4.9L V8 Fairmont, they were all great cars I think there was an article in one of the recent Aussie Muscle Car mags on the Pinepac team, I might go and see if I can find it. |

00 XR8...
Yes I am from the same stock. Bruce (father) and Wayne (Uncle) were the ones to to start it all. The V8 Fairmont was an XD Model complete with Auto trans. PINEPAC Racing build the later XE Falcon from a body shell and yes it was spec'd as a Group A model for the 1985 Wellington street race. These days we play on the other side of the fence in the Holden camp with our NZV8 touring car series. Cheers |
