A1GP web coverage
Is there any live coverage of the A1GP races on the net? The a1gp.com/media page only showed the first race at Brands Hatch and won't be showing any more.

So even foreign sites wouldn't show it on a British computer?

Well it's not going to take off in the UK then, is it? The series will probably have disappeared in 10 years.

I fundamentally disagree, for so many reasons.

Well if a lot of people can't watch it, they will show no enthusiasm towards it. And at the German race the stands were hardly full. And who'd to say it will be popular in Malaysia, Qatar and all these Asian places that it is going to?

It's the first ever season - lessons will be learned on the way.
It's not racing in Qatar for one thing. As has been said before, Sheik Maktoum could fund the whole series out of loose change - and the series is projected to be in profit by year 4 in any case. |

But if it flops, it won't last for very long. I see it as the same as GP2, except that national teams are used. And look how GP2 isn't rated by many motorsport fans.

Most motorsport fans say GP2 is one of the best series around, so I don't understand the point you're making there.
The main point of difference with A1GP is that it runs through the winter - giving us racing when there isn't other series running. It will be around for a long time - mark my words. Just because it seems that you don't have Sky Sports does not mean the series will fail. |

It is an adveantage for A1 taking place in winter, however, it is not being aired in a lot of places. There are people who would like to follow this series and cannot because it is not aired in their country and in my opinion, the web site, although nice, gives you no information about this series, except for the race weekend news. Is it posssible that there are no news in about 2 weeks????

I like the concept of A1GP, but I don't have Sky so I can't watch it. That's why I feel it may not truly take off. But digital TV will be all we have soon, so maybe I'll gte to watch it then. It's not because of my own 'misfortune' that I think the series will fail. The fact that many people can't watch it so will show no interest in it is why I think it may fail. |

For what reason? Certainly on ten-tenths GP2 is held in very high regard. Quote:
It won't fail - the Sheik could fund it as his "plaything" forever if he so desired. The fact is the coverage Sky gives it would not have been available terrestrially - and certainly not for a brand new series. |

I'd have thought that most motorsports fans in this country would have Sky (or NTL) - certainly most I speak to at race meetings have.
As for GP2, if you don't rate the racing this year then there's no hope for you. |

Gp2
This weeks autosport has a special on GP2, with the winner in the first year - Nico Rosberg being awarded a likely race seat at williams, it really strengthens GP2's standing as the best feeder series fo F1.....
Other F1 feeders are renault world series (kubica given renault f1 test), italian f3000, fourmula nippon....FIA GT, and possibly champcar / indy... Even direct from Formula renault (raikonnen/massa) or F3 (button) how do people rate these other formulae? |

You don't know if a terrestrial channel could do a better job until you see one trying. To me the coverage quality doesn't matter, the fact that it's actually on TV is more important. |

I work in the industry so have a fair idea of how the coverage would be. But anyway, those of us with access to Sky tend not to think about the plight of those who've chosen not to, for whatever reason. |

If I had Sky I would watch A1GP, but since I don't, I find it very difficult to follow it. The best way to follow motorsport is to watch it, not by reading race reviews. For me anyway.

Watch it at a friend's house?
I don't know what percentage of UK households have Sky, but it's got to be pretty high. |

Then you have all the cable providers, not sure what Telewest has exactly but I know NTL has 1 million.
