It does not sound like Marcos..more a US Interpretation of A interview they did with him.

Ambrose never spoke or sounded like that whilst in australia.

Must have been their water.................it made him sound, well more american, A WHOLE LOT MORE AMERICAN.

there was a large interview with ambrose in AA about a month ago and he said pretty much all the same stuff and sounded like a tool in that as well.

the impression that i get is that he believes he is an absolute hero for doing what he is doing, thinking that he is above everyone and is a "pioneer"

Well actually he is a pioneer. No Aussie has been picked as a development driver by any NASCAR team.

I feel like I'm a bit of a pioneer for road racers from my area.
Australia really isn't a NASCAR place right now,
but it sure could be. If it works out for me I'm sure it will open up
other channels for other drivers out there to come this way.

So lets look at the Pioneer statement as it is, he is a pioneer for road racers from australia and thats his point and its correct.
Being a pioneer doesn't put you above evryone else, it means, by definition, that he's the first.

I saw an interview with Steve Irwins wife once where she explained the difference between Americans and Australians and this is the difference:

In America, if you bring home the latest Porsche your neighbour asks
" how did you do that? good for you? can you show me how? "

In Australia your neighbour says " what a Leo ******, bet his wife and kids hate him, bet he thinks he's king **** "

Moral of the story, if you want to find fault in Ambrose you will, if you want to be proud of his achievements as aussie, you will.
Ultimately Marcos has only himself and his new masters to answer to and not any of us.

Yes he did but it was in stock cars or a trans am type series.

It was apparently the first time that a driver had spoken to comentators while in was racing ( In that particluar sport anyway ) it was awesome, DJ stacks the car and swears on the commentary, its unreal and the yanks loved it.

thanks for clearing that up..also the crash you talk of with Dick where he swears was one of the funniest things i've ever seen in my life in a race its on a DVD somewhere have watched it many times over.

Yes it was, first in 1989 then 1990 with the Redcote sponsorship, however it was Gricey who was there first in 87 and 89 with Fosters if I remember correctly.
Just remember though both of those drivers were not driving for a US based team, unlike Marcos.

I tell you what guys, I'll make you a deal.

When YOU get yourself into the best seat in V8supercars, win 2 championships and then give it all away, uproot your wife and new child to the otherside of the planet and throw your whole career, reputation and future to the line, maybe then you'll be worthy of judging the guy a " Tool ".

Until then, enjoy from the comfort of your computer chair while Marcos talks the talk with the big boys, if he wants to walk the walk his attitude needs to get a whole lot more " Man am I good " in my opinion, he's going to need a head the size of a watermelon to complete against the Yanks in their own backyard.

Again, well done to Marcos Ambrose, I don't think people realise what a huge change and risk he is making and he should be aplauded for having the courage to do so.

Well hopefully Marcos will progress from the Truck series , fairly quickly. Things do not look that rosy for it.

SPEED pulled an IRL move last night in not showing the grandstands even once. The few shots we accidentlly got of the stands, from the pits during pit action showed why. The stand were empty. Not the first time I've see this. Think a lot of fans not interested in three straight nights of racing. Let the trucks run co-events with the IRL or Champ Cars or stand-alone vents at smaller tracks. Would hate to see this series die. Also, look at truck sponsorship, must be at an all-time low, especially when you consider the nine or ten Tundras are all sponsored by Tooyota. Even good teams like Harvick and Mike Blisss' owner had empty fenders. With Dodge nearly dropping their budget for the trucks and GM and Ford cutting back, it may become an all rice burner series
