Driver of the race - Imola
Seems that no one else is going to start it, and just because Martin Brundle wouldn't commit, doesn't mean we can't either, after all, James Allen put forward his driver of the race
For me, the 4 main contenders are... Michael won from pole, dispite his graining tyres Alfonso still the best package out there at the moment Juan Pablo did the best he could given the stratergy he was on ok, the last one isn't a driver Pat Symonds effectively "gifted" the race to Ferrari. any chance of a poll please mods |

Well had to be Pat Symonds.... had brain fade that resulted in Alonso effectively losing the race.
closely followed by MS who did a super job in holding Alonso and forcing Alonso into some un-characteristic errors |

I am going to give it to Michael, seeing as he did all he could do and got the result.

Nobody impressed me again. MS was the only one who did anything really I guess. Alonso could win, but he had a great advantage with the car. JPM was very good, compared to a miserable performance by Kimi.

Shumi - classy ride to win at the end. Didnt put a foot wrong all weekend unlike some other up and coming drivers.

It's got to be TGF swiftly followed by Alonso.

Michael gets my vote.
Webber and Montoya were next best. |

yep, MS easily best.
honourable mentions: Alonso, JPM, Webber, and Villeneuve drove very well for most part of the race, with final pit stop hiccup apparently with locking wheelnuts (never saw footage of it), probably robbed him of top 10, but still finished 12th in front of his (much hyped but a little overrated IMO) teammate. which leads me to dishonourable mentions: TV footage |

With the permission of the F1 mods and as I'm the only one here at the mo, I'll add the poll, but personally I found none of them worthjy of DOTR.

I'm torn between JPM and Webber, although Michael did what was required of him, aided by Symonds' uncharacteristic error and the team's using-Massa-to-block tactic. Ferrari seem to sign 2nd drivers who were 19th century African-Americans in a past life, as none of them get to race fully for themselves....
I'm giving it to JPM though. Had to switch chassis through no fault of his own, and thoroughly outperformed Kimi all weekend. |

MS gets my vote! I have waited long enough for this (18 months is way too long). He gave it absolutely everything and forced Renault and Alonso into making mistakes.
Nothing more to be said then... |

Sato's pace was good before he retired so I'll go for him, in the absense of anyone really standing out...

Who was driving the safety car? He gets my vote.
Rubens drive wasn't so hot, but at least his pace over the weekend was improved. Both Schumachers did well, though for Michael, it was fairly routine, as he only had to keep her on the track. FA was not going to risk trying anything stupid. |

The trouble was that we saw so little else but the leading pair. Michael did a great job but it's what I would expect from THE consummate professional. JPM did a good solid job, it would seem, and although we saw even less of Mark Webber than we did of JPM, it's pretty clear he did a damn good job.
So Mark, for me, followed by Michael and JPM. |

The track and the Italian coverage, made the race a bit too uninteresting. I will give my vote for Montoya, exceeding Webber by a little

MS. Any time ANYONE beats Alonso at this point he's driver of the race.
Once again, I'd like to protest the absense of Ide from the Poll! |

NO doubt at all - MS by a country mile!
Webber was terrific, as usual doing better than the car probably should, and it seems as though the early reports of New Boy Rosberg giving him a hiding this year are a "little" off the mark. Dullest race since last years San Marino - I actually fell asleep for 20 or 30 laps - and missed nothing. |
