17 @ 888??

As I drove to work yesterday I noticed at The Triple 8 Eng. workshop was a DJR 17 First Rock Homeloans V8 Supercar being loaded onto a tilttray.

What does this mean for the furture ?

Nothing, they were just using some of T8 chassis rigs to straighten out #17.

I can see a lot of positives for DJR in a "technical alliance", can't see what 888 would get out of it though.....

Triple8 will continue to run SBRE engines next year regardless of what bits they give DJR

If 888 are putting a DJR chassis on their jig, presumably they are attempting to de-Beehag it..and bring a number of data points into commonality with the 888 team cars.

I wonder how DJR shall go with this if only one car is being tickled, and there is no time/accomodation for that chassis to test prior to Phillip Island?

Pretty much, you just won't find many parts with 'Made in DJR' on them.

The engine will, and...the engine...yep... that about covers it.

#17 wasn't at 888 last week. The teams only got the cars back from bahrain on Thursday morning last week - there is no way it was up there when it has to get ready for phillip island, the trucks from qld would have left tonight / tomorrow morning (Tuesday)

You sure you weren't looking at a show car?

The technical alliance is happening much to the tune of what people are suggesting.

Just remember that the suspension points are controlled by blueprint, but one of the major deficiencies in a beehag shell is not so much the stiffness of the cage but the big inaccuracies in a lot of points.

31.12 is the due date?

My info on the 888 deal said 31.12 MAY be the date back in September.

It would not be a surprise.

Quite what 888 would do with the DJR operation is not clear.. they have a manufacturing capability for parts and engines and the like that may be of use to 888, engines especially, but whether the key personnel are still around with the gloom & doom is not too clear.

The development series program for this squad is definitely off the table for 2007....

A Walkinshaw clone was the reason given for discussions to start.

But it doesnt quite fit... the engine shop at DJR would be useful, and could supply the 4 888 cars next year, but they have their deal with SBR... or dont they?

Neither premises is big enough to house 4 cars either... the DJR operation barely holds 2 cars... while the house of 8s is also misshapen....
