Best F1 Car Colourschemes ever ?
With the recent talk around the gorgeous renault anniversary livery, i thought i would start a thread to see what peoples favourite colour schemes of the past and present are. I don't think we have enough good colourschemes these days (with Honda's diabolical earth car etc) but you still get the odd one. Anyway fire away with your posts, i will get us started
(Try to keep within the forum regulations for posting pictures please, nothing worse than a 56k connection and opening a thread full of huge pictures - thanks) First choice is the 1993 Lola. There isn't many good photo's of this around, and we all know why. But i just thought it was abit different and is one of my personal faves of all time http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/webproject...james/9302.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/9139/lolarr2.jpg Next up the hugo pratt livery Ligier. I'm not sure why i like this,as sometimes i look at it and think what on earth do i see in it? But something attracts me to it, and i think its again a different looking colourscheme. Again i couldn't find a brilliant picture of this one http://www.renaultoloog.nl/ligier_js39_brundle.jpg Mclaren next, but specifically Marlboro. The picture is the 89/90 Mclaren, but im not really specifically relating to that particular model. Marlboro in my view will always have a place, especially the old Mclaren (penske indycar) livery. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...aren_mp4_5.jpg Now again, not particulary reffering to this renault model, just the general old renault colour scheme http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._RS10_1979.jpg I have plenty more, but i thought i'd get us started with those (PS i checked with the mods as to whether this belonged in historical motorsport or current F1) |

I still think the RA-106 was a stunning car to look at. No idea why - I just think the car and colour scheme oozed speed and power.
Shame it didn't!! http://www.f1-fansite.com/Wallpaper/...A106-2-800.jpg |

The Renault looks good, I like the older Ferraris in a deeper crimson rather than the current cherry red.
It shouldn't really be here, but Dave Pinkney's colour scheme (Black and pink) in the BTCC last year was top notch. http://www.btccpages.com/gallery/ps/...513op1/dp1.jpg The lola looks good, best looking chicane I have ever seen. And the Ligier looks like it could be an Estonian A1GP car paint scheme. |

Best colour scheme, for me the eighties Benettons were always great, the 1983 Renault with teh yellow white and black, Gold Leaf Lotus, JPS Lotus of course.
But the winner is teh 7up Jordan 191 |

The '30 ans' Renault takes some beating IMO.

I agree that the early 4 colour Benetton was pretty good, but it is pretty hard to go past Lotus in its JPS guise, especially with a yellow helmet poking out of the cockpit.
The Ferraris with the white bands were pretty good, thinking it was early 2000's, but it was a copy of Lauda's '75 championship car |

I was a hell of a looker that car. But for some of the other good lookers, you have to look at teams who didn't adulterate their schemes with other sponsorship. Mostly because the were rubbish. Examples :- Simtek http://f1rejects.com/teams/simtek/la...onaco-db-2.jpg Pacific http://f1rejects.com/drivers/belmond...1-suzuka-2.jpg Onyx http://f1rejects.com/drivers/belmond...1-suzuka-2.jpg Andrea Moda (so beutiful, so wrong!) http://f1rejects.com/teams/andreamod...2-launch-1.jpg And last but cirtainly not least Lamborghini Modena http://f1rejects.com/drivers/vandepo...1t-estoril.jpg And two that I just like... http://www.racingsportscars.com/f1/1...-03-20-024.jpg http://www.ritzsite.demon.nl/F1_70s/...n_B41_1979.JPG |

anyway, the JPS Lotus was a stunning car, several nice iterations to choose from but the '78 and '86 cars were my favourites. '78 > http://www.jpslotus.org/79/79j-10.jpg '86 > http://www.jpslotus.org/98/98t-3.jpg |

I liked, the Carlsburg Larousse? And the normal Blue Purple and Yellow Larrouse.

My favourite at the moment is the Mclaren MP4-22. It looks great. The STR livery I like as well.
Of all time...I always liked the West Mclaren livery. TBH the older ones such as the JPS Lotus do nothing for me. |

The Scarab from 1960. Royal blue and white.
You CANNOT go wrong with that. Also Louis Chiron entered a 250F at Monte Carlo in 1958, in white with a red lateral stripe (Monaco's racing colours), a bit like Starsky & Hutch in reverse. |

Jordan 191 with the 7up livery is my favourite - but also liked the Mclaren Marlboro liveries and some of the old Lotuses [what is the plural for Lotus?!].

Was it powered by an Ilmor engine? The Symtek from the same year (94,purply colour) didn't look too bad either. |

Funnily enough I have a can of 7-Up right now. The 91 Jordan was a stunning car/livery. And the 94 Pacific. And the JPS Lotuses obviously
I also liked the 1996 Jordan - the gold/black/red one |

This topic's been discussed before... but maybe the mods want to consider a poll on it.
For me its : 1. The 7Up Jordan 191... the most beautiful F1 car of all time in terms of elegance and colour scheme. http://autooboz.omega.kz/foto/jordan..._191(1991).jpg 2. The Benetton Alfa Romeo 185T... the best Benetton liveried car of all time and looked super cool with the yellow wheels... http://wildsoft.ru/img/cha/Alfa%20Romeo.jpg 3. The Martini Brabham BT44... iconic 1970s chic-ness... instantly associated with motor-racing by just about everyone http://memoiresdestands.hautetfort.c...um_rossi.2.jpg |

John Player Special Lotus, no contest. It was a total concept in design and breathtaking at the time.
Also just reading the EJ book so that 7UP Jordan is fresh on my mind. Loved the hissing Sid one as well. Strange no one has mentioned the Earth Honda. |

Apparently the gentleman who designed the colour scheme for the 7-UP Jordan also designed the colour scheme for Ireland A1 GP car which has won some awards.

I'd have to go for the original Gold Leaf Lotus. It heralded the beginning of corporate branding, which is not necessarily a good thing, but it looked simply beautiful (with the wings off, anyway).

JPS Lotus has to be my favourite too, along with the Martini liveried Brabham's.
