Will be an exciting season. New cars are not a huge change but they are a bit different and it's a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.
Some exciting names will appear as well so I think it will be great to see how this season will unfold. A shame that there are only 18 drivers but hopefully that will change soon. I've got the feeling that Gerhard Berger is the right person in the right place. He will move DTM in the new, exciting direction, more touring car, less F1. When it comes to new regulations, I like most of them, however I would abandon DRS and performance weights. If they have to stay, they should be for drivers, not manufacturers. |

A fourth manufacturer would make a world of difference. But I don't see one.

I'd love to see a new manufacturer in DTM but according to Berger, now it's not on the agenda. Hopefully in a few years some new manufacturers will join.

My dream was for the DTM and SuperGT to have their cars compete against each other, but that isn't happening without turbos in DTM.

Let's wait and see. New engines will come in 2019 so this may be a chance for Japanese manufacturers to come. Another thing is, that - according to what I've read recently - uniting with Super GT is not the only possibility for the future. Introducing GTE cars to DTM is one of the proposals and drivers push for DTM being more Supercars-like series and more touring car oriented. I'm positive about the future of DTM because Berger has some good ideas for the future. It all will not change overnight but hopefully it will become even better in a few years to come.

DTM is a much better option for Alfa Romeo than FIA WEC or IndyCar.
Unfortunately, FCA boss Marchionne seems to be very cheap on motorsport. Also, how about Opel? |

Alfa Romeo back in DTM would be awesome. But now they don't even have the model which would fit current DTM regulations.
The same is with Opel. And they are rather conservative with spending money on motorsport. Maybe now when they are a part of PSA it'll be different. |

Yes, Giulia would make a good touring car but it's not suitable for current DTM cars as they are two door coupes.

Yes, i think that DTM or maybe some other series give that kind of car a try
Giulia, Jaguar XE, BMW M4, there are lot of cars that fit in that group, something like old Group A. |

Ooof, I think Engel had a part to play there moving in the braking zone, the TV replays cut off the start of the move, but you can see from Ekstrom's onboard - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IZb6BTdC6w

Great race, fantastic finish, shame that Glock didn't make it but incredible fight with Auer. And Rockenfeller... where did he come from? Ekstrom one of the men of the race for me. Shame that Engel was pushed by Green...
All in all very good racing, it seems that new tyres and abandoning pit stop window were good decisions |

Great race, enjoyed.
The Green penalty was harsh IMHO. |

Hi, i was wondering if you guys could clarify some of the new rules for me please. I thought that radio contact other than for safety reasons was now banned? During the race alot of radio contact that was played on air seemed to have little or no relevance to safety.
Also i thought you could only have 2 mechanics on each side of the car helping to change the tires? For sure during Martins stop on the right side of the car there were 3 mechanics involved in changing the right rear tyre. Maybe ive miss understood the rules. |

Well, actually when it comes to point number 2, it is not said that two mechanics aren't allowed but that has to be only one wheel gun per side. And as far as I've seen there was only one mechanic with a wheel gun on each side indeed.

That was one of the best modern DTM races I've ever seen. Which... isn't saying much, but since I think this series is 2nd only to F1 in driver quality, I've always watched. The way the Mercs were fast on fresh rubber then struggled late, while the Audis were seemingly unaffected by whether they were on new or old tires really brought everything together today.

Race 2 race under way.
The lap 4 restart was ridiculous. |

The undercut is providing some action this year. Not because of fresher tyres, but because those on cold tyres are seeking taking 3 laps to get back up to speed.

Yep, you're right. I'm pretty disappointed by today's race, not that entertaining as both Hockenheim races but maybe that's because most of my favourites were rather down in the field
I'm worried by BMW performance, especially Wittmann. He's terribly and sadly without pace this year so far... |
