I assume the cars will be for British GT next season as FIA GT3 rules state that each manufacturer has to entre at least 6 cars. Either way, really good news.

Mosler GT3
I think the rules for FIA GT3 are a minimum of 6 cars to compete for a manifacturer class, but the British GT's will be a maximum of 6 cars from any manufacturer. So I presume the 3 GT3 Moslers will be destined for the British series, but I'll ask Shorty when I see him at the weekend.
Apparently he has converted last years Britcar 24 hours winner to GT3 spec, and is trying to repeat last years success this coming weekend! |

GT3 is growing more and more, I'm really enthousiast about where it's going at the moment. Huge grids, large variety of cars, sounds like the deal to me! |

Mosler GT3
True Ascari only have 3 cars in FIA GT3, so they don't get a manufacturers class.
Having translated the GT-Eins article it seems that the GT3 Moslers are destined for the British GT Championship which will probably run to GT3 rules next year is there aren't enough GT2 cars entered. |

Martin told me that an engagement in the FIA-GT3 would be dependent of another team giving back its franchise to run in the GT3-series as the SRO does not want to accept more teams in the already overcrowded series
The Moslers would be a nice addition to the championship |

It will be interesting to see how they equalise the Moslers to GT3 for British GT if they are not also running in the FIAGT where the current equalisation is taking place...

Update........
The last post on this thread was way back on the 12th September and the project has progressed significantly since then. In an article on DSC the following day (13th September), this was reported: Quote:
Having been given the green light by Ratel back in Septmber, Shorty and his crew have been working flat out to meet the deadlines that have been set on this exciting new project. A new facility has been built specifically for the production of the cars (at very considerable expense I'd imagine). The project has progressed in rapid time, the cars are already in build. The first car is in fact almost complete and will be presented to the public for the first time at the Professional Motorsport Expo 2007 in Cologne next Tuesday. Three cars will compete in 2007, rising to six in 2008. The cost of the car is 200,000 Euro's. Stephane Ratel is a lucky man. There are few more passionate and commited to motorsport than Shorty and his crew and you just know that the series will benefit from their presence. A great addition to the ranks of FIA GT3. Good luck, Shorty! |

I don't know if its going to be the promotional launch car or the livery for next year. Its white with big blue GT3 logos all over it. And as above good luck Martin |

Bad news on the Mosler front i'm afraid. DSC are reporting that the FIA World Council have rejected the car for GT3 homoligation. The car does not meet the 200 minimum road car per year build specification. An exception was made for the Ascari but has not been made for the Mosler. Apparently other manufacturers made up the opposition to the car. There is still the possibility that the car could be homologated for National GT championships though, so maybe we will still see the car in BGT next season.

But there are still enough championships for the Mosler, for example British GT, Belcar and German GT Masters. |

And here's why this whole affair is so unreasonable for Mosler Europe. A team in BGT is always likely to want to move up.... Bang - sale of car gone... And Mosler Europe only went ahead because they were told the car would be eligible.

Exactly, its a fantastic car don't get me wrong but the residule value even if it does get BGT entry will be poor due to no FIA entry...

What a shame that Martin was guided the wrong way!! Would have loved to see the car running here. I was not aware of the 200 roadcar-limit before. How many Mosler MT900 had been build word-wide? And who else than Mosler Europe builds some? And what about the Ascari - there for sure aren´t 200 roadcars either ? Would be interesting to know who were the opponents - some british, frensh or german companies building GT3´s?? |

What a disappointment, and frankly a bit of a farce. How many Competition Coupe's have been built for the road? hmmmmm

Without getting into the eligiblility question itself, the point here is that yet again, Rattel has lead sombody else up the garden path.
GT only works if the rules are clear and stable, nobody is going to commit recorces and money to a serise that has the possibility of doing this to you. |

It is a big shame. Additional variety that would be competitive is always a good thing. Nevertheless, when you take a risk, you cannot always expect to have the favourable outcome.
Fundamentally, there is not currently a shortage of GT3 cars (porsche, aston, chrysler, bmw) and entrants willing to race, so I can fully understand the action taking against a car that does not comply--particularly if it viewed to be a serious threat. The Ascari had favourable timing (and piles of wedge from K Zwardt) to get it through. When championships need cars and entrants, rules are viewed differently than when they don't. Mr Short and Mosler should have been aware of this situation. Mr Ratel is not in control of homologation issues and could only assist in helping. Keep in mind that he may have been 'shafted' as well. It just goes to show you that you cannot believe everything you are told...unless it come from the umpire themselves. |

It was Stephane Ratel who gave Martin Short the go ahead to build GT3 cars, as long as there were 3 available to race in 2007 and 6 in 2008: Simon does know what he is talking about.
Can anyone else see the irony in that Guino Kenis can run his Mosler as a Belcar Special in 2007 - so it will be slowed down to compete with the GT3s... so effectively it will be a 5 litre GT3 Mosler.... |
