2005 Accumulator
SO I wonder how many people (namely ford fans) feel different this year compared to previous years when the likes of Brighty and Richo were accumluating points throughout the season and sitting near the top of the championship table. We heard many a story and complaints how they had not raced hard or fast enuff and sat back in the back "accumulating" points.
I guess the boots on the other foot now and namely those folk have all gone quiet. Scanned from FOX SPORTS! IF Russell Ingall wins the V8 Supercar championship this weekend, he's likely to be the driver with the worst winning record in 21 years. No choke ... Ingall. Despite leading the championship by a comfortable 49 points from Craig Lowndes, Ingall has won only one V8 Supercar round this year. Eitherway Im hoping for a CL win, but im sure Rusty will take home the trophy this year. |

Don't blame Rusty, he's just one of 30 odd drivers who race under the same rules - rules determined by those who control the sport.
If Richo/Bright had won it driving a Commodore, sure Ford fans would have grizzled, but ultimately at the points system, not the drivers... |

Bright wasn't really accumulating as such. He was racing as hard as anyone and pulling some awesome passing moves - he just did not manage to win any rounds in that old bit of junk in 2003.
And you could not accuse him of accumulating last year - he was quick and aggressive all season. Everyone knows how I feel about the point system - CHANGE IT! |

Can't blame the drivers no matter whether they have won a lot of races or not. The idea is to gather more points than the other drivers. Ingall has gathered more points at this stage. It's a means to an end.
They all play by the same system. He who works he system best wins. It's the same as if a premium was put on race wins. You then play to those rules, whichever rules are in place. |
