F1 Pub in Manchester
I'm heading to manchester for the weekend and want to know if any of the UK folk here know of anywhere that would show the race? This could save me running from pub to pub at 12:55!!
Thanks |

Maybe find a whetherspoons.. since they started putting Plamsa TV's in my local spoonies has shown F1.... providing it doesn't clash with football... They don't have any sound though, so make it a last resort

I thought Wetherspoons had a policy of no TVs. Has that changed? |

Yep, Wetherspoons have started with tellies. Makes up for their woeful pints with bits floating in them.

Now, now!
Not much else to have in there though is there? It's all hideously trendified. |

Occassionally you have to go in such places, but I'm not a fan of pubs that are the same no matter which city you are in. Trendy? I don't do trendy, I do good.
The Moon under the Water may show the race, I am informed by a Mancumian. Huge pub. Probably trendy. The problem is the football, as luke says. It is Leeds v Wolves at 1pm and West Ham v Villa at 3pm http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=217652 Could be tricky. |

Adam, you don't like 'Hobgoblin' do ya? I'm more of a 'summer lightning' fan.

I don't mind either and for a 'standard' pub Wetherspoons does at least offer beer that isn't 'Smooth'. I prefer a local pub that has small brewry beers. I think I might open a bottle of Hobgoblin now though seeing as you mention it and a man in a Sprinter van has just brought some round for me!
This place sounds gastly, but it may show the GP: http://www.sportspubs.co.uk/new_detail.php?pubscode=262 Is there a Walkabout in Manchester, that is the sort of place that would show it. Tell them that Alan Jones is your hero and Webber will be World Champion and you may get a free XXXX. |

I normally go to Walkabout to see a race if I'm away, not sure if Manchester has one, but they probably do.

Too much use of the word trendy here, a word that makes me projectile vomit.

The Moon Under the Water is "trendy" if your name is Wayne or Sharon and you're out spending your social all dressed up in nylon and burberry while your 12 year old niece is back home in the council flat babysitting your kids and doing things she really shouldn't be doing at her age with the neighbour's son...
Oh, and take a weapon. |
