Pork Pie Theory Blown Out The Water

The theory that Pork Pies attract cars into posts has been found to not work at Brands Hatch.
This weekend one pork pie was consumed and another half consumed and the rest placed on a nearby tyre wall and nothing happened.
Pork Pies are no longer a threat to marshal's safety (unless eaten whole when death may occur).

It may just be that they're out of season - consuming a bottle of Doctor Pepper on post (you know, Doooctor Pepper, what's the worst that could happen) yesterday resulted in a bike crashing into my flagpost!

Maybe Pork Pies only work when there's an r in the month?

I can disprove that one! I always take three cans of Doctor Pepper with me, & nothing ever happens on my post......

......well, not much, anyway......

......he lied!

I put attraction of incidents down to individuals, not the food or beverages consumed on post.

It could be that the effect of Pork Pies is not necessarily instantaneous. At the Thruxton F3/GT meeting, we had an incident occur several sessions after the pie had been consumed, which happened at almost the exact spot where it had been eaten. Perhaps we should demand that the MSA form a working group to examine this strange phenomenon.

I'm going through a phase of nothing happening on 'busy' posts & total mayhem on 'quiet' posts.

typical! Apart from the bike into the post incident, had a very quiet day yesterday. Then coming home from work this evening, happily reading my book and all of a sudden, gasps of horror around the bus. Look out the window and there's a bike and a rider down in the middle of the road.

Guess who ended up sitting in the middle of a main road doing a c-spine stabilisation while my bus trundled off into the distance and we waited for the ambulance...

However, I was reading a cook book at the time.......

My reputation as a car repellent was well and truly destroyed at Donington this weekend, One on Friday (post 1), Four on Saturday (post 12) and Six on Sunday (post 9). I was kind of hoping this car repelling would cancel out the copious amount of Pork Pies the snatch guy was eating but...

So the theory is still open to debate...

Post 6 at Brands at the end of August, normally quiet as everthing goes into post 5. Not this day, incident after incident. Couldn't understand it, no pork pies no Doctor Pepper, then Snapper Baz was spotted behind the tyre wall. Accident magnet or what. There is only one thing worse, Snapper Baz and Jeff Bloxham together. Await the carnage..........

You'll be earning yourself a bad reputation at this rate! Talking of reputations, I'm sure everyone will remember my husband's bad couple of years when he earned himself the nickname of Magnet. I have to say that this goes with the surname as, since we got married I've now got my own mini-magnet and even the once relatively immune pit lane is fraught with danger. Its even worse when we are at Mallory and he's driving the doctor's car! If Di ever puts him into Donington Pits as IO I'm going home!

To twist an old saying:

"If you where to give an infinite number of marshals an infinite number of pork pies, eventually, one of them will have an incident...!"

Last weekend, it was post 2 at Doningtons turn to have the magnetic pork pie.

Nope, they all bounced off us and went to post 4, despite one of our number having 5 mini pork pies in one day. We have found a successor to Bloxham, though. A nice lady photographer seemed to be attracting all the incident. She wished Muller luck on Saturday before he planted it in the gravel, but he was fine on Sunday when she didn't speak to him. Even the poor pidgeon turned his toes up and died when after she'd taken his photograph in the gravel trap.

Jeff Bloxham was at cadwell on sunday. low and behold It was all quiet till he decided to visit our post. In the first race a Hillman Avenger decided not to turn for the hairpin and went straight into the barrier.

Thanks Jeff

Wooly - That "Nice lady" at Post 4 last weekend is definatly not a lady! Her name is Claire, and belive me she is a combination of Bloxham and John Gaisford, and will attract more accidents than you can shake a stick at!

She is also a very good kart racer, and if she gets her way, she will soon be racing cars - what a thought, someone that attracts accidents like that actually out there racing!

I feel I can say these abusive things about her, as she is a very good friend of mine!

Sorry Claire
