New Engine Should Make for Great Racing
Just picked this up out of an interview on CART.com and like the sounds of the following statement by Roberto Moreno:
"The power is very good at the moment and the Cosworth guys are fine-tuning it, but it's not like there's a huge reduction in horsepower. It's just different because they've lowered the revs to 12,000 but compensated by raising the boost. I think there's100 more horsepower through the range of the engine. "Without the traction control, it's going to make the street circuits quite tricky and put more emphasis on the driver's input." I think that translates into more usable power for those that know how to take advantage of it and should make for far better racing particularly on the road and street courses. I'm very excited to see what the new season brings. Last edited by Flatspot; 12 Jan 2003 at 01:55. |

Yup, fatter torque curve, much easier to spin the wheels coming out of slow corners on street circuits.

The beauty of forced induction. That's definately good news for the street courses, some help for the road courses and doesn't matter for the ovals which will have a reduced peak HP (and only use the peak).
