Third FPR test day of the season completed at Winton
I do like this quote very much.
FPR Chief Engineer, John Russell - All in all it was a great day, from the brilliant weather to the fact that we had no engine or car issues at all with both cars, Craig's car completed 125 trouble free laps Thats the first time for the year surely ! |

Of all the things you could have picked from the release, you chooce that one.... Lets talk positively!! They are after all testing the 05 Bathurst winning car!!!!
They are saying all went well & seemd to find some speed, which should be good for Sandown & Bathurst.. Any word on what engine they ran & who built it??? |

The weather was lovely, and we all had a very pleasant jaunt in young Craigs new car. It is a lovely car and very shiny if a little loud for our Aunty Aida. We stopped for a picnic of ham sandwiches and lemonade before motoring home again. Young Craigs car gave us no troubles at all, once Uncle John had turned the crank handle and started it. Mind you, we had to remind him not to drive too fast, as our Vicki was feeling alittle poorly from too much sun. |

He was a bit put off by the Lowndes set-up (a lot of rear brake) but did ok. Did a few laps in Seto's car and parked it as the seating position did not suit.

So lets hope Andy meets the FPR PR personallity and media persona quickly as Ford seems to require, any driving talent aside, that unless he can 'show pony' he won't get a gig in their cars!
Best scenario - JB retires to FPR (he fits the bill with HUGE personality - well connected with Ford management (note small 'm') - has shown he can upset the SBR applecart (Winton)). Andy gets the black one, BJR becomes JFR (Jones Family Racing). |

FPR tested again yesterday (31/08/04)... With Seto being in QLD with the whole Seto to DJR release... This could only mean the test went ahead without Seto??? The one man that would be the most valueable in a test day is left out.. Great move FPR!!! Fooks.. I'm so glad Seto is out of that place!!!

In all seriousness - well, some - can you imagine the acceptance speech in Craig and Glenn win Bathurst this year? "We'd like to thank 888 and DJR and say you to FPR ... " Not that I believe for a moment the Cat car will make it past the first hour of the 1000 ... |

Think about it ... presumably Rob Benson's brought in a whole heap of new thinking, are you gonna hand that technology on a plate to two blokes who are going to drive for rival outfits next year? If you're FPR, you know that you're getting what BJR already has, you don't want 888 and DJR getting on the same page as well!
This comes back to a previous mail of mine, about the dangers of allowing drivers to sign off new deals before the present season finishes. Suddenly you're having to exclude them from anything which involves future development, which has a strangely alienating effect on all involved ... |

Rob Benson is working on engines.. Seto & Lowndes are not going to see what goes inside the engine... They probably don't even look under the bonnet!!!

Meantime Menu fenced the #5 car and broke the steering amongst other things... while word from the wise is that he is still slow....
I dont agree with Vee8, the CAT car will survive the first hour... whether it is still motoring along in a competitive position as the race enters its 7th hour, that I cant really see |
