2004 BRSCC FF1600 update

Dear Formula Ford Competitor,

May I start by thanking everyone who voted on the class structure for the 2004 championship regulations. A clear favourite emerged and the results of the poll are detailed below.

Many of you have contacted me over the last few weeks regarding the combined car & driver weight. For every person in favour of the regulation, there also seems to be one opposed to it.

Having discussed the issue with BRSCC HQ, it has been decided that there is not sufficient support to warrant including the regulation for 2004.

However, with a 50/50 split in opinion and two un-official ‘petitions’ this proposal deserves serious consideration. With this in-mind the Eligibility Scrutineers will be available during next season to discuss how the regulation will work, whether individual drivers would need to carry ballast, and if so where and how this can be positioned within the cars.

It is our intention to formally ballot the 2004 registered drivers during June or July of next year for possible inclusion in the 2005 regulations. This will provide all competitors with reasonable timescales to be both fully informed and prepared.

I believe that together we have put in place a format that will strengthen the long-term future of FF1600 in the UK and will enable the formula to continue to grow.

Detailed regulations and registration forms will be available early in the new-year but until then if you have any questions please get in touch.

Many thanks,

Steve Burns
