Re-vamping the Formula Ford Festival
Glad to see that the BRSCC is introducing new ideas to keep the excitement going at this year's Formula Ford Festival.
I think the idea of a "King of Kents" mini-festival is great. I hear they're hoping to have 2 heats and a final - let's hope they're all on the Sunday!! But I hope it won't put people off doing the Castle Combe carnival 3 weeks before. Hopefully people will see at as Round 1 at Combe and Round 2 at Brands..... FF1600 is so strong I think it's a good initiative. I think with Zetecs in a bit of a lull at the moment I can't see more than 70 cars entered with the 2 main British championships + Ireland and Benelux. I thought the Festival programme over the past 2 years has been a bit disappointing. With a Radical Enduro race on the Saturday...that's not what the Festival is about is it? I know we're not going to get the Thoroughbred Grand Prix cars there again but it would be nice to have a strong support package. I heard earlier in the summer that the Formula Saloons were going to have a double header at the Festival - is that still right?? Maybe next year in keeping with the Ford theme they could have the Ford Saloon championship, Ford XR2/XR3 & Ford Fiesta championships all having their final rounds as well as the usual Historic, Classic, Super Classic FF races + Sports 2000. Then all they need to do is sort out the weather and it would be a great weekend...... |

Ahh there have been one or two dry festivals!
I agree that it will be good to see the Kents back again, not that they have disappeared of course, but the popping and banging the engines make on the overrun does keep one awake The Radicals are NOT what the festival is about and I too agree that maybe a couple of Ford saloon car races would be more in keeping. |

I agree with the Radical comment too, should be kept to at least open wheelers, historic ff classic ff Must admit im looking forward to this one, its the first time im not spectating, but the first im going to be participating in! (Kents) Popping and banging comment......so true. Weather I think will be good. very much looking forward to another great festival. Alfaman - Good point about the Combe carnival, I feel they have had there own very successful version of king of the kents for a long time now. I certainly class that as the main FF1600 event of the year.

Well Richard I hope you don't have cause to visit Post 5 at the Festival as we have a tradition of putting a sticker on your car and awarding you a rather nice certificate to prove you have visited us!
