Ferrari and Schuberth
Do they have some sort of a deal?
I mean, ok, TGF wearing that is pretty much a given. But every other Ferrari driver that I've seen from 02 onwards has worn that. RB switched from Arai to that, now pics of Massa have him wearing that. I was positive he sported Bells last year. just found it amusing. ps: you know it's the offseason when threads are started about switch in helmets |

Helmet deals are made with drivers, not teams.
I'd rather think it's coincidence, or the persuasive powers of TGF/Schuberth... |

I can't see any team forcing one of their drivers to wear a helmet they are not comfortable with, after all, what's the point of a team spending millions of pounds to make their car go fast when the driver lose's time because he's thinking that he's not comfortable with his head gear.

I've had a look at their site and can't be this, but is that company anyway related directly with Schumacher?

ferrari do actually have a deal with schuberth.
Badoer used to be bieffe and moved to schuberth ferarai in 2001 (same year as Rubens) Gene bieffe -> bell -> ferrari sxhuberth Massa, Bieffes -> bell -> Ferrari sxhuberth Rubens Arai -> Ferrari Schbuerth When Rossi tested it was with a red Schuberth Its to do with a.) an edorsment deal b.) The weight of the helmet c.) the areo on the helmet so that slightly different helmets don't effect air flow Think back a little to 96 when Irvine had to have a spoiler added to his bieffe in Ferrari to encourage air flow into the air box, and then in 97 (I think) TGF and irvine both had to lean their heads to the left on straights to get air into. Then bieffe brought out the F1GP helmet, which as I understand it was made for Irvine/ferrari and if you look closly at the 97 images schmachers bell has areo parts added to make it look like the bieffe Ferrari pit crew also has schuberth helmets (refuller included) this used to be a deal with bieffe (except TGF and Bell) - the same way all the kit used to be made by sabelt, now its puma I think. I don't believe its a co-insidence that pretty much every team now has a driver pairing with matching helmets, which considering there is still a good choice of makes suggests this really isn't co-incidence. The only teams I can think that differ are Honda: button/bell Rubens(sato)/Arai BMW: heidfield/schuberth JV/Bell ~( last year mass and JV where both Bell) Toyota: Panis/sparco Ralf/schuberth, although Panis uses sparco too, and Zonta Arai. |

I was under the impression that it was because Schuberth tailored the helmets to the Ferrari cars.

I thought Schuberth were the best ones?
And it's nice that much of the grid can have the same tens of thousand dollar helmets of Schumi... hey they genuinely have made F1 and are hard-charging F1 drivers well done. |
