2009 Bathurst - spectator info

Looking at the possbility of a holiday in 2009 to include the V8s at Bathurst. I'll research the official website etc, but was looking for any helpful hints and tips for a Pom coming to see the Great Race. Where to stay, what to see, what can be missed (if anyhting ...) ?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

David, UK

can't help much with accomidation as i stay on a property except for get in early.

try to miss as little as possible and don't limit yourself to 1 part of the track as there are many great viewing spots around the track.

Well remember there is a bus that runs regularly to the top of the mountain...

start looking for accom on PI NOW! unless you intend to travel down on a daily basis...

I think someone had a similar request for the 08 race, might be worth tracking them down as they will have a good idea of all the thing that us regulars didnt think to mention.

Bring clothes to cover each and every occasion, arrive early. Walk a lap of the track (I did it with the JDRF group this year for the first time, took about 1.5 to 2 hours).

Hopefully the field will be a bit bigger for the 09 race than this years rediculously low amount of cars on the grid!

Let us know how you go.

got two of them coverered next year (2009) the family is picking me up from bathurst and we keep going North to Indy

dwh43scale

so much to see at bathurst, a number of accomodation options now, with the new tent city.

it all comes down to budget and how much you want to spend

as mentioned walked the track at leats once (walking down is much easier) grand stand tickets are already on sale, but General admission is a cheaper option and the vantage points may be better depending on what you like.

you can camp at the track for around 100ish but you need a tent or a campervan

visit the museum at the track

Hey David,
Myself and two other Poms will be heading over to bathurst for the 2009 Great race, we will be marshalling somewhere on the mountain I would think, Having been to the 2006 Great race, I can tell you its something very special and up their with the Nurburgring Nordschelife.

Does it ever. Prices just for a GA entry these days are ridiculous.

David,

JUST DO IT and then send a report to TOP GEAR Attn: Mr Clarkson on what he is missing out on.

cheaper than going to see a top level band, same price as AFL grand final but for a four day pass. cheaper than F1

might be time to move into the 21st century i think, you can no longer get a potato cake for a penny

a 4 day general admission in $115, a weekend pass is $100 and a race day pass is $80.

Grandstands start from $205
