Melbourne qualifying
Not long now guys until qualifying for the Australian GP, the first race of the year!
The tension is really starting to build now.....over in free practice 4 running right now, Montoya is nibbling away at the gap to Schuey and it's down to two tenths.... Forget the negativity everyone of Ferrari storming free practice, let's look forward to a great year....it all begins for real in a while...... Enjoy the qualifying! |

So what are we to expect from this new qualifying format?
A hope we don't end up with a situation of drivers trying to set the slowest time in 1st qualifying...... |

Can't really see that happening. The interesting thing of course is if anyone has a blow up or bins it in the first part because I bet they'd struggle to get the car sorted for part two in the time available.

I would love to be wrong, but comparing today's and yesterday's times it seems so evident that Ferrari is sandbagging...

sandbagging by going loads quicker than others They have been easily quicker throughout the four sessions. The closest being the this last one.
For ITV viewers: Were Martin and Mark taking the Michael out of Jim by imitating the little finger holding? EXCITEMENT ALERT: Jenson's girlfriend feature on ITV. |

I need a magnifying glass to read the sector time on screen, does anyone have problems with that too?

It is a little small.
Cars on track, one at a time. Times are fairly pointless so far. As long no-one stuffs it into a wall. Still gives us a chance to talk about fuel levels for twenty individual laps that have little importance. Yipee. |

Respectable effort by Heidfeld, and another catastrophic lap by da Matta - who seems to be struggling the whole weekend.

I got a question now.
There are Qualify 1 and Qualify 2. I thought in Q1 people fuelled to the minimium, i.e. for 3 laps only. So how on earth in Q2 they can be even faster with race fuel ??????? |

Wow,
They seem to have the BAR's up to speed. Early days but P3 for Button is a vast improvement. |
