da Matta's last season

From Autosport...

Champ Car series leader Cristiano da Matta is expected to be rubber-stamped as Toyota's new Formula 1 driver for 2003 within the next two weeks.

The Brazilian has a contract for next year with his CART team Newman-Haas. But Toyota, which powers Newman-Haas in Champ Cars, is negotiating to buy him out of it.

No final deal has been signed, but insiders have confirmed that a preliminary agreement is in place for da Matta to make the switch. The only stumbling block is the size of the fee team boss Carl Haas asks for to release him.

It only matters if he whips the rest of the Formula 1 drivers though.

Good news. da Matta should be in F1. He's brilliant, I've been saying so since he debuted in CART.

Thats like saying that F1 is a better series than CART, they may be faster, but CART is a much more competitive series, I think he should stay.

Would be nice if he would stay. Sometimes it seems that, just as CART showcases a wonderful new talent, they cross the pond. Villeneuve, Zanardi, Montoya, daMatta...

But, who can blame them?
CART = $$
F1 = $$$$$$$$$
