Loeb also needs Sordo and if possible other drivers ahead of Hirvonen ..

True - Sordo used to be far better than Hirvonen on tarmac but the gap isn't so wide any more, I can't see Latvala being allowed to beat Hirvonen and I don't think anyone else will get close.

More likely to be a factor on gravel events I'd have thought - tarmac is his weakest surface so I'd expect Loeb, Sordo andHirvonen to be faster. Solberg could come into play if any of those three have problems though.

Well that was a predictable result but it sets things up nicely for the finale. Solberg seemed to get to grips with the C4 quickly so he could be a factor in the title decider.

don't think anybody can influence it actually .. its a straight fight between Loeb and Hirvonen .. who ever finishes in front wins the championship

We went over for this from Thursday until today, and loved it Hadn't been before, we saw SS3 / SS6 on Friday, a stage [can't remember which] on Saturday and SS15 / SS18 yesterday. A couple of the Slowly Sideways guys went off on Friday, the Sunbeam got going again but the RS200 wasn't going anywhere. Found some good places to watch, but one of the highlights was having dinner in Salou on Thursday night with the cars going past only a few metres away A comedy moment was the 206 that broke down in front of us fixing the problem [think gear linkage], only to get back in to drive off and set the extinguisher off....doh! He covered it with his hand in the car and off he went.... Also, hats off to the speccy helicopter pilot - impressive!

I also went out to Salou, really had a superb time. The collection of Historic Rally cars was also great sight ))
Petter Solberg was the star for me taking 4 stage wins in his first appearance in the C4. He will challenge at GB im certain! Novikov Citroen seemed to go off on every stage we were on, very entertaining. Now back to rainy UK. |
