Bathurst 24hr Nov 19-21
So now that the Bathurst 24hr is confirmed, which international teams do you all think are interested, I think the more the better, I would actually love to see an international team grab the honours, and then make us race harder to get them back the next year.

I watched(streaming vid) of the Bathurst 24 for the last couple years and it was pretty good.
That being said i think the ACO could really help out the lesser known 24 by possibly giving out 1 spot for the winner at the LM 24... |

It doesn't quite work out because either Bathurst would have to be run to ACO regulations ("Audis on the Mountain, way cool!" - but in all seriousness, impossible); or the ACO would have to introduce an "invitation" class. (on the other hand, seeing as the whole race is an "invitational" these days it wouldn't make a difference )
Incidentally, I don't think you have watched this race "for the last couple years" - 2003 was the first and so far only edition. You may be referring to the Bathurst 1000k for V8Supercars which is a different affair altogether. Bathurst has regulations similar to the Nürburgring. |

well first the regulations have to be set. the rules need to be fair for all teams/cars. if FIA GT and FIA N-GT or equivalent ACO classes are set, it will be international. also add in an unlimited class such as in the nurburg 24hrs, then it'll be a classic

It would be good to see the Alzen brothers back this year.
Last year in the 996 GT3 Supercup Porsche, Uwe Alzen was fantastic across the top of the Mountain, particularly in the wet warm-up prior to the race. Lets hope they can bring their Turbo GT2 (From the Nurburgring), that will really give the Monaro's a hurry up! |

Sorry for the spelling mistake and i mean that the FIA/ACO cars should run in addition to the local entrants like Spa so there will be a big grid

Personally Id support the idea of having regulations for FAI GT GT/NGT cars as well as the current regulations. But then ud have a situation where the FIA GT, GT class cars would effectivly dominate. The Monaros are fast yeah, faster than NGT cars such as 360's and 911's, but quicker than 550's/575's and Lambourgini Murciealgo's? No.

You sure? Being that the Monaros are based on the C5Rs i bet thier as fast as a 575... or fairly close.

The Monaro is competing in the British GT Championship and is about 5 seconds of the pace of the best N-GT cars. It does run a less powerful engine than in Australia though.
Even so, in Nations Cup the Monaro is only as quick, even maybe a little slower, than the Strycek (sp) Diablo, which is little more than a tweaked Diablo GTR one make car. Last years Rafanelli 550 car is in Nations Cup now and runs with a good couple of hundred Kgs of ballast, smaller restrictor, wings etc. Last edited by JAG; 24 Jun 2004 at 01:37. |

The nations cup monaro's are fairly restricted aswell. unrestricted im not sure how they would fare against a gts car? but in sprint form, it should be quicker than a v8 supercar around bathurst, easy! No names are confirmed yet but i hear Maranello Motorsport(550) have got some gun drivers lined up for the 24 Hour!

I hope Schnitzer do go to Bathurst; I always liked the M3 GTR (sorry, Ayse) and the cars are now pretty much sorted for endurance racing. After the Nurburgring victory, it'd be great to see them at Mount Panorama. Be interesting to see how they go at Spa, too.
