Rally Championship

Remember these games?

The first was based on the 1993 RAC Rally (though what the Martini Lancia's were doing in there.....)

The second was based on the 1995 RAC Rally.

I haven't played the third one though, which i am told was based on the 1999 British Rally Championship, including all events, and all the leading cars (Renault Megane, Seat Ibiza, Volkswagon Golf MkIV, Vauxhall Astra).

Is the third installment any good? What were the game features? Realistic or not?

I remember those games. The orginal version was on the Amiga and you only a Ford Sierra to chose from the. That was followed by the 1993 and 1995 version. You are also are correct in saying that there was a version of the game based on the Mobil 1 Rally Championship. They where all great games and I spent many happy hours playing them.

I got the 95 version from Tesco many years ago for a pound!

I also played the 99 version on both the Playstation and PC, the cars just didn't move around on the surface right, they seems to get pulled from each of th headlights when going sideways... Didn't feel right at all.

The third one i thought was called rally championship 2000 as ive still got the disk somewhere.

It must be the second one i remember playing, which had full length stages. When you finished a 14 min stage it felt so good. I thought the physics were suposed tyo be really good for the 1999/2000 version though the crash physics were awful!

This games was released on the PS, based on the 1999 British Rally Championship. It didn't have full length stages but I reckon they were the longest at the time it was released. Like spanner said, the crash damage was appalling - you could only loose a bumper - and the handling was very suspect, in fact virtually undriveable. And for some reason, the windscreen wipers were manually operated but you never needed them because rain never hit the screen???
