Masters Top Hat Snetterton 29 March.
The opening meeting for Masters Top Hat. The Capri is entered in Stars of the Seventies 45mins race. I'm also entered in the 20 mins allcomers race which replaces the 70s Touring race (because apparenetly the G2 cars aren't ready). Looks like a busy day!
Hopefully it will be dry for the event. Who else is going/entered? |

sadly I miss this as I am away skiing - but surely the Thruxton Easter meeting is the first UK Masters round? Another one I am sad to be missing...

I was hoping the owner of the Westminster was going to enter Thruxton as its a favorate track of mine. Aparantly the Masters crew want the later cars so they put him off. Still looking forward to Snett and meeting you guys.

Yes Simon its Jim Woodleys car ,i am very lucky he lets me co drive when he does not have a paying driver. Having raced single seaters all my life everyone thinks the Wetminster is a bit of a handfull but quite the opposite its one of the best cars i have ever driven. I even pollished the car at Spa last year. "took all Sat afternoon" And the cromework.!!!!!Dont know timetable yet but do hope we can all get together for a natter and maybe a noggin

Masters don't usually publish entry lists.
Has everyone seen the offer of the March Hare "all-comers" race? Seems like a decent deal for an extra race, especially if you are already there and entered in another race. I believe today is the last day for entries. The details are as follows: March Hare All Comers Trophy 1 driver, no pit stop 11.55am 15 minute qualifying 17.10pm 20 minute sprint race £135 incl VAT It does mean a late finish I guess. Roger |

In addition to the above, there was some pretty good racing going on as well, congrats to Peter for pulling up the grid after spending a few laps in the pit lane with a missfire[after the green light!] once sorted he got on with the job. Also to Delta and Jim Woodley for a well deserved 2nd O/A in the Westminster.Unfortunatly i got way-laid by one or two people and missed some of the other races. No doubt John T will be giving one of his excellent reports anon.

Well what a weekend!
Good to meet up with Delta and Cirrus, plus John and Terry. Currently in T4 contemplating a frustrating day. It was seriously cold and wet on Friday but we ran the car in and hoped for a dry qualifying. I was entered in the Stars of the Seventies and the March Hare. Times for both were reasonable and I knew where at least a second could be gained. Assembled for the first race and it rained. I was on dry tyres! On the warm up lap the car developed a missfire at 5k rpm so I pulled into the pits. Seems like one of the plugs had failed.so about 4 laps down I left the pits only to discover that my rear tyres had absolutely no grip, hence three spins! Anyway when I finaly got a rhythm I made up a place or two (I think) and hopefully the lurid angles through the esses kapt folks entertained. Sadly I pulled off the grid for the March Hare race because of what we think was fuel vapourisation. We've fitted a fan so where last year I would have switched off the engine, now I can keep it running thus the carb got hot. Lesson learned. Hey ho Looking forward to Donington 5 May. And thanks to the Masters team for looking aftter us so well. |
