Fia to ALMS

The ALMS is seen as the best sports car seies in the world now as it has prototypes as well as GTS and GT cars. Should the big teams in the FIA and Brit GT switch to the ALMS. There has been rumopurs if the Ferraris went well they would be transferring to the ALMS.

Easier said than done...

The rules between the two series, while similar, are different in a few areas, most notably the lack of sepquential gearboxes for GTS cars running to Le Mans rules. The FIA GT series allows them however. I don't know how easy it is to switch between two different types of transmissions for a different series, but I would imagine it could be difficult for smaller teams.

Another thing to consider is if the teams in the FIA or British series actually want to switch to a different series, specifically one where they wouldn't get much exposure, as the prototypes are the main draw.

One more thing would be the fact that the teams would be competing on a different continent, and would be away from there families more quite a while, and would have to face completely different types of tracks then what would be found in Europe.

Besides, the ALMS is seen as more of a factory series. Most of the European GT teams would be much more at home where they are in the FIA series, or a domestic series.

Why would teams come race in N.America?

There won't be an ELMS next year. Besides, the FIA Series are actually getting far more cars than the LM Series.

Given the meetings at LeMans, one should expect common rules and cooperation between the FIA,ACO and Mr. Panoz.
