MSA "online" license application
Is it just me or was the apply online invite in the license application pack a waste of time? It's not like I have a complicated license or anything - just a straight renewal with the same details as last year.
Thought I would try the trade/MSA discount for the Autosport show but apparantly I need a license valid at the time of the show - hence the temporary faith in the MSA catching up with the 21st century. Anyway gave up when it materialised that it's still over £100 in tickets alone for me, wife + 2 kids to stands around all day looking at 'motorsport' grommets. sorry, moan over. |

I think I shall save my money for club 'membership' next year instead - though that's worthy of a separate rant! |

the online licence application is really starting to tick me off. Tried to upload my photo and it keeps saying there is an error in the html and coming up with an error page. Also you need to have internet explorer. I've had to download it just for my application which now still hasn't gone through. This is ****

It didn't work for my 2008 license so ended up doing it on paper, but for 2009 it was all straight forward and license arrived 3 days later - when it works it works well but if any small thing has changed or if their system feels grumpy it's useless.

I'm still waiting for my email confirmation of details. From last year
I may point out to the MSA at Autosport just how bad their website is - it's not just the licence thing, the whole site is appallingly bad. |

They've changed it within the last few months haven't they? Not sure which, if either, I prefer!

The new one errors less and the page layouts are less eye-bendingly bad but it's still one of the least usable websites in the known world.
Shockingly I have received my login details in under a year - impressive I have now (maybe?) renewed my licence. Although my address didn't display correctly on the licence application screens but it's fine on my profile. Genius. I am fully expecting my licence to go awol. |

I've never had a problem with their postal service, it just takes a little longer than doing it online.

I applied for mine online, took 7 days to arrive, I think the online system is good and saves time!

online renewal
Renewing online this year was a doddle, 5 mins worth of questions to answer, got a confirmation email and the new 2009 blue book + my licence arrived in a single package within 7 days. As for applying online or needing to change some of the details, I can't comment, but for a straightforward renewal it was great.

OFF LINE APPLICATION
I cant renew on line because I need a medical each year.
Had medical at my usual doctors on Monday evening. Posted the application on Tuesday. Got an e-mail on Thursday to say it had been dispatched. Arrived Saturday morning. I'm sure when the online system is debugged it will be more efficient for the MSA but the old way still seems pretty good to me! |

Just to add to all this - to be honest that's two years running I've renewed my licence online and it's arrived even quicker than they said it would. Loving it.

I tried it for the first time this year - straight forward application, no medical or changes - got the licence through within 4 days I think! Very impressed actually
