Well done to Brawn.
A fine job. First season? Not in my opinion, but an impressive season by any standards, in a more competitive year in terms of the number of cars in with a shout of victory. Brawn rightly got that car superb out the box and that set them up nicely for their championship charge that some said unfairly turned into a limp in the latter half of the year. |

Well done to all the team - and Ross' thank you to those who they had to make redundant was a lovely touch.

Ive often wondered, did they get decent pay offs because of the Honda money? Honda deserve kudos in the respectful way they have treated Ross Brawn and his staff through this and after IMO. Jenson is the undoubted star of the year, I dont know anyone who is not happy about his victory, a season we will all remember warmly. Good on you Jenson "started at Clay Pigeon" Button!

Ross is a genius. Whether he'll be able to repeat it next year or not is a different matter

Has a team ever done it in their 1st year? Even if it is just in name... (ignoring the 1st season)

Well done but it's not a new team and I really do wish people would stop getting carried away by the hyperbole of 'new team wins in first season.' It's a team that has effectively been there and morphed over 40 odd years; Tyrrell-BAR-Honda-Brawn.
Next year there will be 3 genuinely new teams come in and this is how a new team really can expect to perform. I wouldn't put any money on any of them winning in what really will be their first season. |

Given that they seemingly had a complete car from Honda and some seed corn funding for this year, it certainly makes sense for Brawn to have a major industry partner for 2010. However, I understand that most of the Grandee teams have two separate design teams, working year and year about on the cars, and I'm not sure if Brawn have had the resources to do this. Could it be that the need to have kept developing this year's car will already have fatally compromised the 2010 car, regardless of any deal with Stuttgart?

Even if you don't consider Brawn a new team, it's a team that had finished ninth in the previous season's championship, and then won a title. No matter how you slice it, that's a remarkable achievement.

The Tyrrell Team was bought out by BAR who in turn were bought out by Honda and ultimately Brawn. It is a team and infrastructure that has been in place for years (regardless of where Ross Brawn personally was as opposed to the team that uses his name...) It is not a new team who started from scratch, had to go and source a building, personnel, build a car from scratch themselves, had years of data built up etc. etc. |

Considering he had to source a new engine, lay off staff, redevelop the car and in such a short period of time; for all intents and purposes it is new a team. |

Surely Ross deserves at least on OBE or CBE...
Fantastic achievement, whether you argue about or being a new team, a re-badged Honda (with a Merc engine?) or whatever. Great to finally have a good news story in F1 after the soap opera we have had this season. |

Congrats to Brawn. He is great at what he does. I am not sure what to expect for next year.
But for this year's championships....congrats to the double decker diffuser. |

I've stuck this to the top, as the drivers championship thread is also up here.
