Will Peugeot use the 307?

We all know they dismissed the rumours, but that's just the normal **** teams tell you.
I think they will as it is smaller and maybe they're thinking using the 406 Coupe was the wrong decision.

they'd be stupid not to!!! at the start of the year they said that a bigger car was the way to go and vauxhall have disproved that!!!

i dont personally like the look of the 307.i reckon it looks really ****.but i dont think peugeot will drop the 406 and use the 307 because it would mean that this year has been a wasted year..a wasted 'development' year, and a waste of dosh(nobody likes wastin money).if they did i think they would have the same problem next year because vauxhall and mg and alfa and lexus would have a headstart on them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they changed to the 4 door, especially if Peugeot France ever wants to race in the ETC. If not, i think that they will stay with the 406 Coupe, because it should be more stable and its hardly had much development. Also, only Soper can really do the development, as Eaves and Slight are Roookies, while Vauxhall has Muller, Plato and Thompson, all experienced at developing cars.

I think the whole issue of bodystyles could now be in question with the new ETC rules being released, and the fact that Westie said we may switch to Euro rules if they are similar. What about 95%???

That said only MG and ABG if they get a works funding which I think they will, are safe.

Still the Griffin could run with the Astra 4dr saloon (Ugly Belmont me thinks) and have some testing data with an Astra. That would win the ugliest touring car hands down.

As for Alfa and Pug????

Erm... people...

The proposed 2002 ETCC regulations are basically the SAME as the current (2001) 'BTC Touring' regulations, except that the manufacturers are free to develop a few more parts of their cars on their own (e.g. brakes, gearboxes).

Personally, I think this is a mistake, as the TOCA-supplied-parts system ensures that the costs cannot explode. Then again, the ETCC is a continent-wide series - remember that the BTCC is 'only' a national series, so it has to be cheaper than the ETCC!

For what it's worth, I think the BTCC rules are perfect. At this early stage, there is no reason to suggest that a smaller or larger car is fundementally better. Vauxhall are running at the front because they had their car ready way before the others.

In 1993, Ford demonstrated that the relatively large Mondeo could run at the sharp end. In 1998-99, Nissan demonstrated that a smaller car was also competitive. To quote a well-used phrase, "Size doesn't matter!".

Yep ..they will use the 307 as it has Sat Nav and 6 airbags which the current drivers certainly need!!
