Jaguar at Le Mans helped by Williams?????
According to sportmotores .pt
"...Remember that it was Williams who produced the BMW V12 LMR prototype with which to mark the Munich won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1999. Last year the builder founded by Frank Williams developed the KERS system used by the Porsche 911 GT3 on your Hybrid. The interest in Jaguar's classic French has been speculated in the press since the withdrawal of the mark in Formula 1. In summer 2008, in conversation with the magazine Top Gear, David Richards, boss of Prodrive, did not stop mincing words and said that Jaguar wants to do a program in the LMP1 class and launch it within easy reach of the number of victories Audi at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A month ago, Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Motors, the new owners of Jaguar Cars Ltd, told Indian media that would revive the glorious past of the sports brand of Coventry. The last time a Jaguar won the 24 Hours of Le Mans was in 1990, but between 1951 and 1957 the "Jags" won the race five times..." If This is true, Audi,Peugeot,Aston Martin, Toyota and HPD colud have company in a near future... |

Sounds good, maybe the Jaguar execs feel the need to step it up a notch after the disastrous GT2 programme...

It is known that Jaguar dreams about a Le Mans return, but its too soon to see in such a connection more that it really is |

There is a list as long as your arm of companies that have pitched in one form or another to Jaguar - I have no doubt that Williams and several other F1 outfits are on that list (I know specifically of at least one other that is!)

I knew that Williams built the BMW V12 .... but not sure about the V12 LMR ?
My brother has the rear wing from the V12 LMR in his cellar bar , on the wall , the adjustable bit that says BMW GENUINE PARTS . We managed to get our mits on it when it crashed at Tetre Rouge on the test weekend . Who built the BMW V12 LMR please ? |

RSC labels the chassis as Williams-G Force. G Force probably laid the carbon fibre and did nothing else (like Dallara for Audi). The common story is that Williams was involved in the design from '98 (and got the uprights wrong) and received some credit for the '99 win. BMW most certainly did not let Williams do it all alone and probably developed the car alone after it was completed and started being tested on track.
